01:46 <Thelema5> This was only minutes ago.  Now I guess I wait for details.

02:05 *** Joins: Pony|73346 (Pony73346@Pony-u3o2rq.frokca.sbcglobal.net)

02:05 <Pony|73346> I watched mlp up to season 3. When they only had three seasons is the 4th and 5th season worth watching.

02:06 <Thelema5> Yes!

02:06 <Thelema5> Welcome to the chat, by the way

02:06 <Dinkydoo> I'd say s4 was one if the best

02:06 <Thelema5> Season 4 is probably my favorie

02:06 <Pony|73346> Thank you. Some of my friends said that it has taken a turn towards the female children. and lost it's overall feel that seasons 1 through 3 had.

02:06 <Pony|73346> Is that true.

02:06 <Dinkydoo> Lol scariest cave in Equestria. Everytime I see that episode I burst out laughing

02:07 <Thelema5> It's... actually geared more towards all audiences now.

02:07 <SunsetShimmer> <Pony|73346> Is that true. - The end of season 4 had a laser death battle, and the finale of season 5 had massive levels of time travel abuse.

02:07 <SunsetShimmer> no, it's not catering to those audiences more...it's about as fair as its ever been

02:07 <Thelema5> Every episode has a few nods to the older crowd, and hasbro's newest MLP toy line is definately designed with older fans in mind

02:07 <Dinkydoo> Don't forget the brainwashing SunsetShimmer!

02:07 <Dinkydoo> :p

02:07 <SunsetShimmer> OH YEAH

02:08 <SunsetShimmer> there was the great season 5 opener.

02:08 <SunsetShimmer> and the episode 100 of absolute great silliness

02:08 <Pony|73346> Thank you very much. I'll be sure to watch. I have just been busy. I was surprised when they had more seasons. Didn't know about season 4 or 5.

02:08 <Dinkydoo> And don't forget about the existential aligator

02:08 <SunsetShimmer> So no, for many here there's been many reasons to stay watching past season 3 - give it a try yourself, don't let your friends put you off.

02:09 <Thelema5> Oh yeah, and the XK Class end of the world scenerio resulting from a time jumping battle for revenge

02:09 <SunsetShimmer> x3

02:10 <Dinkydoo> Lol

02:10 <Thelema5> Pony|73346, for the record- even though season 4 is probably my favorite season, it also has my top 3 least favorite episodes.  So there are definately a couple of bad episodes

02:10 <SunsetShimmer> also maud pie

02:10 <Thelema5> Ah yes, such a charmer

02:10 <SunsetShimmer> just...just maud pie.

02:10 <Dinkydoo> S4 has an episode that felt like a massive tribute towards scoobieDoo

02:10 <Thelema5> Castle Mania was awesome

02:11 <Thelema5> A lot of people didn;t care for it, but I have a deep appreciation of the genre

02:11 <SunsetShimmer> x3

02:11 <Dinkydoo> Castlemania is what made s4 my favorite

02:11 <SunsetShimmer> well you DO have a deep appreciation of hikes, chilli peppers and cider...your interests aren't entirely conventional. :P

02:12 <Dinkydoo> That and pinkie apple pie

02:12 <SunsetShimmer> Weird Al in pony form

02:12 <SunsetShimmer> glorious

02:12 <SunsetShimmer> See? It's hard to even stop thinking of great stuff from the last 3 seasons. xD;

02:12 <SunsetShimmer> season 6, whilst a bit derp, was still littered with gems

02:13 * Gladiolus derps

02:13 <Thelema5> It doesn't get ANY better than Crusaders of the Lost Mark, hooves down

02:17 <Thelema5> Pony|73346, to be honest, some of season 5 and 6 felt a bit uninspired- there were some major staffing changes and a lot of new writers joinging the team.  Aside from a few weak episodes, though, they're still worth watching for the many gems

02:18 <Thelema5> Season 7 seems to be off to a good start, though, and we have a major motion picture looming on the horizon- so you should jump back on this train before it leaves the station

02:18 <Dinkydoo> I still injoy the bronies react

02:18 * CleverDerpy feeds Dinkydoo mini muffins

02:33 <NovaSquirrel> I'm kind of surprised it's up to 7 seasons already

02:33 <Dinkydoo> And this one is graphical benhmark

02:33 <Dinkydoo> https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/yeJu3Riz/irccloudcapture-2087555180.jpg

02:33 <Filly_Nightmares> I'm not sure if the turn time really matters, to be honest.

02:34 <Filly_Nightmares> Yis, is gud FPS.

02:34 <Thelema5> Why are you surprised, NovaSquirrel?

02:34 <Filly_Nightmares> But it isn't really a graphically intensive game.

02:35 <Dinkydoo> Hey Filly_Nightmares what's multi-GPU?

02:35 <Hamtramck> wouldn't turn time be like

02:35 <NovaSquirrel> the first time I looked at the show it was in the middle of season 1, then I sort of watched some episodes from season 2 and now I'm finally checking in on it again

02:35 <Hamtramck> processor bound and not gpu bound

02:35 <Thelema5> The show started season one in October 2010.  It's 2017.  It'e been roughly one season per year

02:35 <Dinkydoo> Yeah

02:35 <Dinkydoo> And well it's been a great 4 years for me

02:36 <Thelema5> It's funny to this about- the target audience the show was originally designed for are probably in their early teens now

02:36 <Filly_Nightmares> Multi-GPU is having multiple graphic processors in a single machine, Dinkydoo

02:36 <Filly_Nightmares> o3o

02:36 <Thelema5> The last thing they're thinking about is my little pony XD

02:36 <Dinkydoo> Lol

02:37 <Filly_Nightmares> I wonder what FPS I would get in-game.

02:37 <Filly_Nightmares> I dun own it so bleh.

02:37 *** Quits: matttheshadowman (mattthesha@the.shadowy.corners) (Ping timeout: 121 seconds)

02:38 <Thelema5> It's probably time for a reboot, honestly.  A whole "generation" of children have grown up with FiM, and grown out of it.  The little kids coming to the show now are finding themselves watching something designed to appeal to their babysitters

02:38 <Dinkydoo> Lol

02:39 <Dinkydoo> Think of the toys!

02:39 <Hamtramck> nobody watches Reboot anymore

02:39 <Dinkydoo> Thelema5 the sad thing is I can see Hasbro keeping this thing around for as long as the simsons

02:40 *** Joins: matttheshadowman (mattthesha@the.shadowy.corners)

02:43 <Thelema5> That would be a shame.  The franchise should evolve and grow; FiM was specifically the story of Twilight Sparkle and her journey.  But that journey has come full circle.  She was once the pupil, but now she is the master.  It's probably time to move on because her story arc is complete. I'm hoping that the Movie will be a bridge between G4 and G4.5

02:43 <Hamtramck> they don't really need to abandon the setting even

02:43 <Hamtramck> they could leverage that and just

02:43 <Hamtramck> start a new story there

02:43 *** Quits: Bubble-Berry (uid109338@Pony-6jbho6.hqe2.tdoh.8300.2604.IP) (Quit: Connection closed for inactivity)

02:44 <Thelema5> Even in Season 6 and 7 we're seeing the focus shifting more to Starlight and her journey

02:44 <Hamtramck> they very much have a number of characters/themes/whatever in place that they could do that with even

02:44 <Thelema5> Sure, I agree!

02:44 <Hamtramck> I kind of hope S7 does more of that. I wanted S6 to do it more than I did and it like, didn't.

02:44 <Thelema5> Maybe 4.5 could focus on the CMC and their adventures

02:44 <Hamtramck> And he episodes that focused more on the established main characters felt a bit re-tready

02:44 <Hamtramck> Yeah the CMC are very underutilized here

02:44 <Dinkydoo> Omg does that mean a new intro? Lol

02:45 <Dinkydoo> I don't know the CMC well there journey is already halfway over also

02:45 <Thelema5> One could hope.

02:45 <Dinkydoo> Also Heartbreak predicted they would have gotten there marks in s3 lol whoops!

02:46 <Thelema5> XD

02:46 <Thelema5> I hope season 7 has more songs than 6.  I felt kinda ripped off last season

02:48 <DerpyBot> I need to ask Twilight about that one.

02:48 <Dinkydoo> I'm not a big fan of the musical style episodes myself Thelema5

02:48 <Dinkydoo> I've got the sound of music for that :p

11:12 <Cepheid> I'd prefer having a wired connection, and leaving said server outside of my bedroom.  The only other place where I can put the machine is downstairs on the main floor in the exercise room.

11:12 <Cepheid> But then I don't have a wired connection to my PC, etc.

11:13 <LunaticHell> That's a shame.

11:14 <LunaticHell> Build a server room underground and cool it with water that I then use for hot springs.

11:14 <Cepheid> I set up the modem downstairs to broadcast, which a secondary router picks up on, then rebroadcasts.

11:15 <LunaticHell> I'll make the money that I need to substain the servers by offering people to visit my server heated hotsprings.

11:15 <Cepheid> Only problem with that setup is that I lose out on one of either 5GHz or 2.4GHz bands on the router.

11:17 <Cepheid> Alternatively I put the server machine in my closet.

14:04 <Cepheid> Ah, much better.  All clean-shaven again and bald.

14:07 <Fn> Woo I am a discordianist

14:07 <Fn> Never thought Discord was my spirit animal

14:10 <Schism> This is a horrific story... a creature which eats memories and encapsulates its victims in a field which prevents anyone from remembering anything about them, or even perceiving them.

14:12 <Fn> Schism, why would it be horrific?

14:12 <Fn> You would not be able to tell what's horrific at that point. Blissfully unaware.

14:13 <Schism> Heh, and that's the most horrific thing of all.

14:14 <Fn> Is it really?

14:14 <Cepheid> Arguably, SCP-055 is "broken" in a sense.

14:14 <Fn> Uhm... I guess if your life consisted of only good, happy, nice and cherished memories --- it may be

14:15 <Cepheid> Based on the description, the very document detailing SCP-055 should not exist.

14:16 <Schism> Cepheid: Save that written documentation /does/ hold -- it's just immediately forgotten unless it's at the forefront of the mind.  So there's a cycle of 'wait, what's this?' followed by a bit of flailing and then back to business as usual.

14:17 <Cepheid> But then how was the original document written in the first place?

14:17 <Cepheid> During the writing of it, the person would forget what they are writing about.

14:17 <Schism> Ah, but a researcher writing the document would then look at what they'd already written and amend it appropriately.

14:17 <Cepheid> And attempting to use negation of facts would also cause them to wonder why they are writing a document in the first place, because they are describing the negation of the object, which is everything *BUT* the object.

14:18 <Schism> Also, the Foundation's computers are very, very well guarded, and documents can't merely be 'deleted'.

14:18 <Schism> It's posited that despite being Keter class, SCP-055 is extremely weak.  If it weren't, it would have absolutely precluded the document from being written originally, and it couldn't be described through negation.

14:19 <Cepheid> But the problem is that describing it through negation, and forgetting what the object *IS*, would lead to confusion amongst the writers.

14:19 <Cepheid> Because instead of describing the object, they are describing everything it isn't, which is itself reality as we understand it.

14:19 <Schism> Hence why 'we know it's not a sphere' is about as close as you can get.

14:20 <Cepheid> I don't think "Everything but this thing is an SCP object." would result in the file being kept in any way, shape or form.

14:21 <Cepheid> http://imgur.com/t/caturday/Huuds On one hand, hairless cats are ugly.  On the other, they are extremely interesting and unique to observe.  Because you are seeing the actual, physical form of a cat, without it's fur.

14:22 <Schism> Also, at least we already know that SCP-055 is not a toaster.  http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-426

14:22 <Schism> Probably not, anyway.

15:17 <Schism> Ah: it's a warning tag on each file.  Memetic hazard, antimemetic, cognitohazard, not sure about the fourth.

15:30 <Cepheid> Truth told I'm surprised the SCP foundation hasn't declared Girl Scouts to be an SCP of some sort.

15:30 <Moonlightning> That's the /real United States/. You can't refer to the US in an SCP and then be like--like that, for example. :P

16:32 <Cepheid> Trees are commonly used to represent such, yes.  Or existence.

16:32 <Moonlightning> Okay, SCP question more than religion: if Keter and Thaumiel are two parts of the same tree, why would Keter be used as the label for really dangerous SCPs and Thaumiel for helpful ones? :p

21:29 <Schism> Two measures which sometimes don't coincide very well: the danger of the object, and the difficulty the Foundation has in keeping it secured.  One object, a book which nearly caused the destruction of humanity due to severe cognitohazards, is deemed 'safe' because it's the only remnant copy.

21:29 <Schism> The aforementioned guy is named Keter not because he himself is a threat (though he is, through no fault of his own), but because people, even Foundation personnel, go nuts and try to break out 'their god'.

21:30 <LunaticHell> tl;dr : it's more about "how much do we need to do to keep it contained

21:31 <LunaticHell> "

21:31 <LunaticHell> Easy example?
