01:55 <Schism> There are some better ways to measure that from a gameplay perspective.  For example, metal wastage, including in an alloy.  If one doesn't know how to work a certain metal, then more of that will be wasted as they try and merge it in.

01:55 <Dranae> Geas didn't have that.

01:55 <Schism> Impurities in ore could fit too, though at some point there would have to be a limit to how much data can be stored.

01:57 <Schism> We never really did much in the way of TYPES of wood, but I remember growing flax and processing it for hours on end to craft looms and hammocks, to create housing, to be effectively on the cusp of the player experience.

01:57 <Schism> It resets every couple of years, and then everyone starts from scratch with new systems.

02:07 <Schism> Okay, you're imagining a puzzle sort of game -- it's not quite like that.  The client isn't anything like that.  By puzzling, and solving the technologies, I mean that players have to try something, see what happens, and extrapolate from there, scientifically.

02:07 <Schism> If a crop yield goes down in a specific region, or mines start producing less, then players have to figure out why.  Similarly, veins aren't marked, nor are a wide variety of resources.
