07:13 <Cepheid> Down a slope is easy.  You don't even use gravity, since if you did, it'd look weird.  Basically, when the player isn't jumping, falling, or otherwise airborne in some manner, you simply "drop" them down in place after applying the horizontal movement.

07:18 <Cepheid> Visual thinking about it suggests that I start by moving the entity horizontally, ignoring intersections with solid objects.  If it *DOES* intersect solid objects, I shift it up as far as necessary to resolve the intersection.  Following this, I take the new position, subtract the old position, then calculate the angle between the new and old position.  If the angle exceeds some constant, then the motion is cancelled.  At
