06:58 * PinkieShy wishes he could go back in time and stop this pandemic from ever existing

07:03 * ConfusionRift sighs. "Yep, also wish this whole madness would end."

07:10 <Cepheid> Huh.

07:10 <Cepheid> There is in fact a moderate reaction between seroquel and amoxiclav.

07:11 <Cepheid> In the form of "It causes the liver to process the seroquel more slowly, resulting in higher quantity of seroquel in the bloodstream over a longer period of time."

07:11 <Cepheid> Thus, "severe exhaustion and possibly irregular heartbeat."

07:13 <ConfusionRift> Not to mention amoxiclav is an antibiotic, which tends to affect blood flow. in some way.

07:14 <Cepheid> Mmhmm.

07:14 <Cepheid> Unfortunately, I can't simply go without taking antibiotics.

07:16 <Cepheid> So my choices then become "Reduce the seroquel dose" or "Stop taking the seroquel altogether for safety reasons."

07:47 <PinkieShy> Knowing my luck i'll be put on antibiotic ointment again and the pills like last year..

10:04 <Koopz> i exclusively buy granny smith because they're sour, adding something sweet would defeat it'd purpose

10:04 <Schism> I suppose.  Another possibility might be to make a grilled cheese-and-apple sandwich.

10:14 <Finwe> Miss Schism.

10:15 * Finwe doffs his hat.

10:15 <Finwe> Schism: Oh, do you have a cider press?

10:15 <Schism> Alas, I do not.

10:15 <Finwe> What kind of yeast do you use?

10:16 <Schism> I haven't actually _made_ cider, I was just musing over doing so.

10:17 <Finwe> Traditional cider, I think, is let to ferment naturally with yeast present in apples, but the modern approach is to use cultivated yeast.

10:17 <Schism> And of course there's also the wintertime drink of choice, where one leaves fermented cider out in the cold and then removes the ice which forms on the top.

10:18 <Schism> This seems like it might be useful.  https://pleasanthillgrain.com/tabletop-fruit-press-1-25-gallon

10:20 <Finwe> Schism: Would that be applejack?

10:20 <Schism> But of course.

10:21 <Finwe> Scripsit Wikipædia Britannica, "The name applejack derives from the traditional method of producing the drink, jacking, the process of freezing fermented cider and then removing the ice, increasing the alcohol content."

10:30 * ConfusionRift wonders why there's a dime in the pictures.

10:30 <Schism> To illustrate the mesh size.

10:30 <ConfusionRift> What if it's a large novelty dime? :P

10:34 <ConfusionRift> So basically... applejack is the process of making cider higher in alcohol content by removing the water from the fermented cider?

10:34 <Schism> Yup.

10:34 <Schism> water freezes at a higher temperature than alcohol.

10:35 * ConfusionRift nods.

10:36 <Koopz> how far can you go with that process in terms of... boom

10:36 <Koopz> and how much fruit taste will be left in the alcohol?

10:37 <ConfusionRift> You're just removing the water by taking out the chunks of ice, leaving the rest behind; this includes the alcohol by fermentation.

10:37 <Schism> Typically, the apple wine will be 40 proof, and about half of that will be removed, so 80.  And applejack is very strong, and maintains the apple flavour.

10:38 <Koopz> awesome :>

10:38 <Schism> It's not the sort of distillation where you're looking at 80 or 90%.

10:38 <ConfusionRift> Well, it's alcohol naturally produced by the apples.

10:38 <Schism> Produced by the sugars and yeast, anyway.

10:38 <Koopz> i should try that sometime

10:39 <Koopz> one would think i would've done something like that throughout the last year

10:39 <ConfusionRift> Yeah, but apples are in the process. In some cases, they just add it in some way, since the goal is higher alcohol content.

10:40 <Schism> Well, you start with alcohol-free apple cider, add sugar and brewer's yeast after warming the mixture to activate the latter, pour it into a jug with an airlock and let it ferment for two weeks.

10:40 <ConfusionRift> Within speculation, I got zero idea about any of this. I'm no cider conosioiuieiuoos... I don't know much about cider.

10:42 <ConfusionRift> That, however, am aware of. You need airlocks on them jars, or they go boom if unattended, which is very easy to forget.

10:43 <ConfusionRift> You got something sitting somewhere doing not much for weeks. Besides, airlocks aren't expensive.

17:52 <Schism> I suggest chicken, hot peppers, and onions.

17:54 <LibrarianofHope> pepperoni, jalapeño, olives and onions

17:54 <LibrarianofHope> thtas my go to

17:54 <Schism> Also quite good.  I do love a good onion.

17:54 <Schism> And olive*

17:54 <ADragonDreaming> I have a pretty broad taste in pizza, though I tend to avoid the hot peppers.

17:55 <LibrarianofHope> i like dominos, its my confort food per excelence

17:55 <Schism> Being an odd sort, I will always like pineapple on pizza.  :3

17:56 <LibrarianofHope> you paid for it, eat as you like

17:57 <Schism> I could go with a chicken, mango and ginger-sauce pizza, though.  Maybe with cubes of kochkase.

17:57 <LibrarianofHope> whats the cube thing?

17:58 <Schism> Cook cheese is a semi-soft cheese which can be cubed with a sharp knife.

17:58 <LibrarianofHope> neat

17:58 <Schism> Sort of a cottage cheese.

18:11 <Schism> I'll reserve judgment until I try one for myself: I don't know of many places in town which do capers on a pizza.

18:13 <Schism> LibrarianofHope, you could also do a pizza with a tomato and horseradish sauce, with dilled green beans and diced clams and a little bit of celery, and maybe some roasted onion.

18:14 <Schism> Also carrots.

19:47 <Cepheid> Heh.

19:48 <ADragonDreaming> My mom's laptop had an electrical thing happened that resulted it in not charging, and eventually being unable to power on.

19:49 <ADragonDreaming> So my dad's taking it in to see about repair

19:49 <ADragonDreaming> meanwhile, she wants to be able to continue to write. So I'm resetting my old laptop, which I replaced because it was getting unusably slow.

19:49 <Cepheid> Wow.  That's a hell of a short to prevent charging or powering on.

19:50 <Cepheid> What model laptop?

19:50 <ADragonDreaming> Hewlett Packard, dunno the actual model.

19:50 <Cepheid> I can't promise special treatment, but if you ever have any issues with dell laptops or PCs, ask me first before doing anything.

19:50 <Cepheid> My dad works for dell through Unisys, so..

19:50 <ADragonDreaming> The power cord was one of those universal cords, that you can change the head on, to use for more than one laptop model, right

19:51 <Cepheid> You used a charger too powerful for the laptop?

19:51 <ADragonDreaming> what apparently happened is that the cord disconnected from the head. My dad made the mistake of leaving the head plugged in when trying to reattach the cord to the head

19:51 <ADragonDreaming> and he tried to put it in backwards

19:51 <Cepheid> Oof.

19:51 <ADragonDreaming> this resulted in a visible spark.

19:59 <Schism> If I were to pick up a comparatively sensible laptop, by the way, where I don't really want to run anything more advanced than say MHW, has anyone any suggestions?

19:59 <Cepheid> I can only advise on Dell units.

19:59 <Cepheid> And it depends on what you mean by "run MHW"

19:59 <Cepheid> Do you consider lowest-quality settings, 30 FPS acceptable?

19:59 <ADragonDreaming> If you want to run MHW, look at MHW's recommend specs.

20:00 <Schism> That would be viable.  Though I don't want to still be turning the camera around when the Deviljho picks me up and eats me.

20:00 <Schism> Honestly, I'm not THAT against Dell, though you can bet your tail I'll be using the Windows 10 key to install a clean version.

20:00 <Cepheid> Of course.

20:01 <Cepheid> Hell I can probably get one from my dad.

20:01 <Schism> Well, it'll be a little while.  I haven't gotten my T4 from last year.

20:01 <Cepheid> Basically, a GTX 1660 or RTX 2060 is a good minimum for 1080p 60FPS full settings.

20:01 <Cepheid> The most key details for gaming are RAM and video card.

20:02 <ADragonDreaming> MHW: Minimum processor is Intel i5 or AMD FX 6300. Recommended is Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen.

20:02 <Schism> I did say 'laptop' and 'comparatively sensible'.

20:02 <Schism> I'm not going to drop $3,000 on a gaming laptop du jour when I can upgrade Nocturne, I just want a decent box which can run at least some stuff at a decent rate and won't fall apart within 3 years.

20:03 <ADragonDreaming> Minimum video card is GTX 760, or AMD radeon R7 260X; Recommended is GTX 1060, or AMD Radeon Rx 570

20:03 <Cepheid> Straight up, you'll want a discrete card.

20:03 <Cepheid> Non-discrete is not an option.

20:03 <ADragonDreaming> I'd say to go look at listings for laptops with video cards that are comparable to the recommended settings.

20:03 <Cepheid> Though I hear good things about Intel Xe IGP.

20:03 <ADragonDreaming> if the video card is comparable, you'll like get the RAM and the processor, as well.

20:04 <Cepheid> Yeah, a GTX 1060 would be sufficient.

20:04 <Schism> Alrighty.  Well, I'll check up on those in a month or two anyway. And probably something akin to a decent hard drive, too.

20:04 <ADragonDreaming> Go for SSD.

20:04 <ADragonDreaming> Their in reasonable price ranges now.

20:04 <Schism> Yeah, but even then, 1TB surely isn't that hard to get.

20:04 <ADragonDreaming> *They're

20:05 * ADragonDreaming goes to check specs on his laptop

20:05 <Cepheid> Xe IGP is... not recommended.

20:05 <Cepheid> Seriously, don't do it for heavy gaming.

20:05 <ADragonDreaming> processor: intiel i7-9750H. 16MB ram.

20:05 <Schism> Hm.  When I get a new laptop, then, I'll call her Allegro.

20:05 <ADragonDreaming> GTX 1660

20:06 <Cepheid> Interestingly?

20:06 <ADragonDreaming> 500 or 550 gb SSD, I forget which, with a 1 TB HDD.

20:06 <ADragonDreaming> It cost me... about $1000 USD.

20:06 <Cepheid> I'd be careful about purchasing RAM upgrades on the laptop.

20:06 <Cepheid> They tend to overcharge.

20:06 <Schism> I believe you.  Well, we'll see what I can get, come what may.

20:07 <Cepheid> Yeah, I can get 16GB for less than the +$100 on an XPS 15.

20:07 <Schism> Not that I'm going to replace Nocturne by any stretch, but it's nice to have a backup in case, for example, I need to hare off to the US or Owen Sound for something.

20:08 <Schism> Or just type up stuff now and then, etc. etc.

20:08 <Cepheid> But yeah, a 1060 will suffice for 30FPS or 60FPS reduced settings.  1660 is recommended or RTX 2060 for 60 FPS full settings.

20:08 <Cepheid> But that's just World alone.

20:08 <ADragonDreaming> I will say that this particular lappy has not had any issue running any game I've tried on it.

20:09 <Schism> 1660's where I'm at, with 16GB RAM, so.

20:09 <Cepheid> Except for the issue with the fan.

20:09 <Cepheid> But that's just because laptops are not designed to be running heavy games in the first place.

20:09 <Cepheid> And probably damaged the fan.  Could have also been faulty to begin with.

20:09 <Schism> And I'm more like to get a laptop for smaller things, like emulation and reading/writing if I get into the hospital.

20:10 <Schism> Not that I intend to do anything like the latter, but hey, there's only so much you can do with a DS or a phone.

20:10 <ADragonDreaming> I bet the fan was faulty, yeah.

20:10 <Cepheid> For emulation, even a reasonably cheap laptop is sufficient.

20:10 <Cepheid> Unless you get into Wii, Wii U and so on.

20:10 <ADragonDreaming> well, depends what you're emulating.

20:10 <ADragonDreaming> Yeah.

20:10 <Cepheid> Yeah.

20:10 <ADragonDreaming> Like, emulation of PS3...

20:11 <Cepheid> That is troublesome even for a PC.

20:11 <Schism> Dolphin isn't too heavy by today's standards, but it does have issues, yes.

20:11 <Cepheid> The problem is the Cell processor emulation.

20:11 <Cepheid> That said.

20:11 <Cepheid> With modern GPUs, it's possible to more closely emulate the PS3 Cell processor, now.

20:11 <Cepheid> Since the Cell processor is basically just a power CPU with streaming processors.  Hey, guess what exists in modern GPUs?

20:11 <Schism> Mm... still, architecture emulation.

20:11 <Cepheid> Streaming-like processors.

20:12 <Cepheid> In practice, you could translate the SPE code through JIT, and run it on a GPU, with the power core being emulated on the CPU.

20:12 <Schism> Adra: I shall be naming the switch 'Subito'.

20:23 <ADragonDreaming> I did not.

20:23 <Schism> Did it at all appeal?

20:24 <ADragonDreaming> Remind what it is?

20:24 <Schism> Iga's new absolutely-not-a-Castlevania-game.

20:25 <ADragonDreaming> Ah. I never grew up with the Castlevania games, so I was not tracking his doings.

20:25 <Schism> Totally not a Castlevania at all, which is why it has nothing in common with those games, like a whip, a protagonist fighting to destroy a vampire/demon/thingamajig in a giant castle which only lets you pass when you get certain abilities, et al.

20:25 <Schism> I guess that's fair, though.

20:25 <ADragonDreaming> I think some other friends did, and even kickstarter participated, and were less than impressed with the whole process

20:25 <ADragonDreaming> much less the result

20:26 <Schism> I can say it's a perfectly fine result.  Has its odd moments and troubles, but it worked out well in the end.

20:26 <Schism> But if that's not your go-to, no worries.

20:29 <Cepheid> I think part of the problem is that any time Iga and his crew move to a new platform, quality suffers.

20:29 <Cepheid> They need to develop their skills on the platforms they're working on.

20:30 <Cepheid> The reason going from the GBA to DS was so easy is simply because the DS is quite literally a souped-up GBA with two screens and more buttons.

20:30 <Cepheid> Literally, any code that ran on a GBA will run on a DS.

20:30 <Ali> Isn't that why early DS's had GBA compatability?

20:30 <Cepheid> The DS has two CPUs, an ARM7 and an ARM9, the ARM7 is the same model used in the GBA.

20:30 <Schism> They have released a wide variety of fixes, and in this case, the game actually plays smoothly and works out pretty well, albeit with the whole 'grindy' nonsense intrinsic to the Dawn/Aria of Sorrow thing.

20:31 <Cepheid> It's only upclocked a bit, and the ARM9 is.. finicky to use, and exclusive to DS software.

20:31 <Cepheid> The ARM9 is incorrectly set up in the hardware.

20:31 <Schism> ("Why, yes, I can spend a few minutes grinding up a few more souls, that's certainly nothing I've not done in Monster Hunter..."

20:31 <Cepheid> There's a memory access bug that kills it's performance.

20:31 <Schism> ---...CAPCOM, you bastards, I should've known!

20:31 <Schism> Also, yeah.

20:31 <Cepheid> Heh.

20:32 <Schism> Anyway, Adra, Bloodstained is definitely of the good.

20:32 <Cepheid> Yeah, it's not bad.

20:32 <Cepheid> Just had a rough kickstarter and launch.

20:33 <Schism> Especially now that they've fixed up... oh, 75% of the bugs, left the other 25% in place because it's more fun that way, and added a ton of additional modes and character playthroughs.

20:33 <Cepheid> And are continuing to add.

20:33 <Schism> Yup, a new release just came out with a 'classic mode', which is NES-style Castlevania.

20:33 <Cepheid> Up next is supposed to be...

20:33 <Cepheid> Chaos Mode, Vs, and crossovers.

20:34 <Cepheid> Then a new characer.

20:34 <Schism> And all free at that.

20:34 <Cepheid> As for classic mode?

20:34 <Cepheid> I'd have prefered simply the game being rendered in pixel artwork.

20:35 <Schism> Well, there is a pixelated area, but yea, I can see that.

20:35 <Schism> Between this and MonHan World, they're doing a very good job of making sure their players get their money's worth.

20:35 <Cepheid> Capcom's not handling Bloodstained though?

20:36 <Schism> Huh.  Could've--oh right.  That's 505 Games, not Capcom.  Wait, why did I think Capcom in the first place?

20:36 <Cepheid> But yeah, I think Iga and his team finally got up to speed on development for different platforms.

20:36 * Schism derps and slams her head into the desk.

20:36 <Cepheid> I don't even know, Iga was Konami.

20:37 <Cepheid> That said, I'm kinda surprised that Inti ****ed up the second Bloodstained pixel game.

20:37 <Cepheid> I heard that the difficulty was excessive.

20:37 <Schism> How exactly do you make the difficulty excessive on a retro Castlevania game?

20:38 <Cepheid> I don't know

20:38 <Cepheid> Though it could be people going from Ritual to the retro game.

20:38 <Cepheid> Which would indeed introduce a learning factor.

20:38 <Schism> I _did_ play Simon's Quest.  I know from that sort of bullshit.

20:38 <Schism> Anyway, Adra, would you like to try a Castlevania game from the Symphony of the Night era onwards?

20:53 <ADragonDreaming> Aye.

20:53 <Cepheid> Last week, I designed the core of a factorio-ish game.

20:53 <Cepheid> Now I just need to implement it.

20:53 <Cepheid> It's extremely simple compared to other games I've tried to do.

20:55 <Cepheid> Ask me about it sometime when I'm not in class, or something.  I'd appreciate someone asking about it.

20:55 <ADragonDreaming> I'm certainly interested!

20:55 <ADragonDreaming> But, also am working.

20:55 <ADragonDreaming> So, yes, I get the whole "not right now" thing

20:58 * LibrarianofHope rotates

20:58 <LibrarianofHope> spinny spin spin

21:01 <Cepheid> Honestly I think I lose interest in my projects because no one asks about them, especially my parents.  So it's like...

21:01 <Cepheid> Blah.

21:02 <ADragonDreaming> Do you have a demo or something of the like?

21:02 <Schism> Cepheid: Now's not the time, but I'm interested in that core.

21:02 <ADragonDreaming> That goes a long way toward feeding the interest and giving the non-programmers such as myself something with which to engage and provide feedback on.

21:02 <ADragonDreaming> Even if it's the barebonesiest of barebones.

21:05 <Cepheid> Mmhmm.

21:06 <Cepheid> It's like, extremely simple.  And no, no demo yet.  Just a design document.

21:06 <Cepheid> Basically a list detailing the various details of how the game will play out.

21:06 <Cepheid> Nothing more complicated than that.  It's a good working point to create a todo list.

21:07 <DerpyBot> New post on Equestria Daily by Makenshi: Nightmare Moon Music: RUL - Eternal Night [Trance] [ https://tinyurl.com/yywht5ks ]

21:08 <Cepheid> It's score-based, and a sort of defense/survival type game.  You start by specifying a force strength, and a time limit.  The lower the time limit, the better your score multiplier.  The higher the force strength, the better your score multiplier.  Once set, you start the game.  You start with a construction yard base, and a space ship that you control.  The goal?

21:08 * Finwe hats on Ali.

21:09 * Ali squeaks

21:09 <Schism> That already sounds like an excellent game.

21:09 <Cepheid> Build up your resources, equipment, defenses in that time limit.  After the time limit expires, a devouring swarm force appears somewhere in the game world, and attacks.  If you survive and defeat the enemy leader, you win the game, and you are graded based on units lost, enemies destroyed, your time limit, and enemy force strength.

21:09 <Cepheid> Very simple, straight forward premise.

21:09 <Cepheid> Nothing to it, simple, no need for major story.

21:10 <Cepheid> Of course, you can continue after winning, if you want, the game doesn't just "end"

21:10 <Cepheid> Since some people like to then to overboard with production stuff.

21:10 <Schism> Not quite Tower Defense, but somewhere along those lines.

21:10 <Cepheid> Basic workings involve placing structures, and then drawing directed lines from one structure to another.  These lines indicate outputs of items, and are utilized in a round-robin manner to supply their targets.

21:11 <Schism> And enemies, I take it, can interrupt those supply lines.

21:11 <Cepheid> Well, yes.

21:11 <Cepheid> They can destroy stuff, and interfere.

21:12 <Cepheid> I'm actually thinking of complicating it by allowing only one output line for most structures.  You need splitter-type structures which accept items, and then send them out in a round-robin manner to one or more destinations.

21:12 <Cepheid> Er, two or more*

21:12 <Cepheid> I want to keep the game "simple" and focus more on building and creating production chains.

21:12 <Cepheid> So no belts or pipelines.

21:12 <Schism> So players wouldn't be directing units, per se, they'd just be setting up lines of motion from building X to building Y.

21:12 <Cepheid> Mmhmm.

21:12 <Cepheid> Using units *MIGHT* come down the line if it's desired over the basic concept.

21:13 <Schism> I think you're onto something, there.  Maybe a few units, basically mobile buildings, but other than that...

21:13 <Cepheid> Yeah, there will be units.

21:13 <Cepheid> For defensive purposes.

21:13 <Cepheid> You can have a swarm of units follow you around, etc.

21:13 <ADragonDreaming> Swarm towers!

21:13 <Cepheid> One complexity I might toy with?

21:13 <Schism> I was thinking like tying units to towers themselves.

21:13 <Cepheid> No crossing lines.

21:14 <Cepheid> But that might add too much trouble.

21:14 <Schism> And as such, the player counts as a tower themselves.

21:14 <Cepheid> There'd have to be some way to go around it.

21:14 <Cepheid> Mmm.

21:14 <Cepheid> That could work, yes.

21:14 <Schism> Each tower could have a certain unit value attached to it.  20 might mean 20 goblins, or 10 hobgoblins, or 5 orcs.

21:14 <Cepheid> The idea's not unsound, either.  Some strategy games use the idea.

21:14 <ADragonDreaming> might do Factorio's method, of requiring construction of special crossover pieces for the supply lines.

21:15 <Cepheid> I mean, look at Warhammer 40k and it's psionic tyranids.

21:15 <Cepheid> It has entities that can control the swarm.

21:15 <Cepheid> So, mobile towers controlling swarms could be explained as "The tower is the CPU, the drones are it's limbs."

21:15 <Schism> And Starcraft, which has something like that.  Minor, but somewhat relevant.

21:15 <ADragonDreaming> "Assuming Direct Control."

21:16 * Schism sends cheeselings at Cepheid.

21:16 <Cepheid> Heh.

21:16 <Cepheid> It'd be easier to control a number of towers over a number of distinct units, especially if dealing with a devouring swarm army.

21:16 <Cepheid> Since those tend to be large by definition.

21:16 <ADragonDreaming> oh, good, the reset process did move.

21:16 <Cepheid> Anyways, I'll continue this discussion later.  At say, 6:30 or so.

21:16 <ADragonDreaming> It was at 42% for a while.

21:16 <Cepheid> My lecture's about to start.

21:17 <Cepheid> Well, in 15 minutes.

21:17 <Cepheid> In the interim, regarding Japanese.  You know what I wish I had access to?

21:17 <Cepheid> Japanese version of Ys 1 & 2 Chronicles.

21:17 <Cepheid> One of the better ways to learn a language is to apply it, but I don't really have much I can apply it TO, so I need something to translate.

21:18 <Cepheid> Though, Ys might be a bit much.

21:19 <Cepheid> It'd probably be better to do say, a Pokemon game, which is geared towards the younger demographic, and thus would be more in line with what I'd need.

21:22 <Schism> Evidently you need to change the primary language on the Switch itself on the main options screen.

21:23 <Cepheid> Yeah, I know.

21:23 <Cepheid> I just wasn't sure if the Pokemon game on the Switch supports it.

21:23 <Cepheid> It was a feature added after a certain point in it's life.

21:23 <Schism> Only one way to find out, I suppose.

21:23 <Cepheid> And it doesn't work with every game.

21:23 <Cepheid> For Ys 1 & 2, it's not possible at all on PC.

21:24 <Schism> Yeah, but that's PC.

21:24 <Schism> I think the Switch is a _little_ better...

21:25 * Lumindia boops all the beautiful beans

21:25 <Lumindia> o wo

21:27 * LibrarianofHope boops da lumi goodness

21:30 <Cepheid> A bit, yeah.

21:30 <Cepheid> I got a few games I should play in Japanese on it.

21:31 <Cepheid> Especially Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded.

21:32 <Cepheid> Basically, what I need for a game is one that uses furigana.

21:32 <Cepheid> Since the core problem is that I don't know how to read the kanji, and having to look up each one would be troublesome.

21:33 <Cepheid> Especially each and every time a new one appears.

21:34 <Cepheid> Hum. Link's Awakening for Switch has furigana.

21:34 <Cepheid> As does Luigi's Mansion.

21:36 <Cepheid> I'll have to go through my library and check.

21:37 <Cepheid> I know MH:Rise and MH:GU support Japanese text.

21:41 <Cepheid> Lecture time. o3o

21:42 <Cepheid> ...

21:42 <Cepheid> She's explaining the history of each kanji.

21:42 <Cepheid> What.

21:42 <Schism> That sounds helpful, albeit in a tangental manner.

21:43 <Schism> Understanding the basis of each kanji might help provide a context as to how they came about, making them more likely to stick in your mind.

21:47 <Cepheid> In this case she explained the appearance of the kanji and went into detail regarding it's appearance.

21:50 <Cepheid> It was the kanji for "house" and had the radicals "roof" and "pig" and explained why "pig" was there.

21:56 <Cepheid> Interesting observation.

21:57 <Cepheid> When asked to recite something, if multiple people all start reciting, I get confused and cannot finish the sentence.

21:59 <Cepheid> I can't follow along.  All the voices confuses my inner train of thought.

21:59 <Cepheid> So I get disrupted and have to "re-sync"

21:59 <Cepheid> I wonder if this is a side effect of my childhood hearing problems.

21:59 <ADragonDreaming> I don't think that's *too* uncommon, either

22:01 <Cepheid> It's annoying.

22:01 <Cepheid> It makes it hard for me to practice pronunciation when we all recite at once.

22:01 <Cepheid> Because I get distracted from what I'm trying to say due to all the voices.

22:06 <Cepheid> I think it's related to my need to focus on a voice when I hear it to determine if it's someone talking to me.

22:06 <ADragonDreaming> That makes sense

22:31 <Cepheid> I am surprised I did not catch that detail.

22:31 <Cepheid> RU-verbs typically end in eru or iru.  U-verbs ending in ru, usually end in aru, oru, or uru.

22:31 <Cepheid> There's two exceptions to the rules.

22:58 <Cepheid> La-Mulana. :P

23:03 <ADragonDreaming> hah

23:13 <Finwe> Good evening, my perissodactyls of minute stature.

23:13 <Cepheid> It'd be interesting to see how good the translation is.

23:14 <Cepheid> But, on the other hand?  A lot of context-specific stuff.

23:14 <Cepheid> So it'd be difficult.

23:14 <Finwe> Messrs ADragonDreaming, Cepheid, Dappled|Away, Lumindia and Starlight_Glimmer; Mlles Ali and Schism.
