00:00 <Cepheid> The boss loses all it's limbs after the attack.  One limb regrows each turn after that.

00:00 <Cepheid> If all limbs are alive, the next turn us the TPK attack.

00:01 <Cepheid> And since that special skill requires everyone to be at full union gauge, it may or may not be ready to be used.

00:02 <Cepheid> It is basically the battle from hell.  Only one such boss have I ever defeated before.  That was the giant bug from EO4.

00:03 <Cepheid> It is like your team is in the position of Loki when the Hulk goes to town on him.

00:12 <Lumindia> can you attack the limbs individually?

00:12 <Lumindia> or do the limbs exist as just a visual timer of sorts?

00:13 * Schism finishes a rant. :<

00:14 <Schism> Kinda angry at someone who just threw the 2nd amendment at me.

00:17 <Schism> In short form: https://twitter.com/theogrin/status/1158168124333670402

00:18 <Cepheid> You can attack the limbs yes.  Kind of what needs to be done in fact.

00:19 <Cepheid> Problem is killing the limbs does no damage to the boss.  It is a tricky situation.  Especially as each limb can perform an action by itself as well.

00:19 <Schism> Each type of limb also has its own strengths and weaknesses.

00:21 <Schism> Which is actually kinda funny, because if my conversation with Cepheid from before is accurate, they're physically oriented in the front, and magically oriented in the back -- just like the party.

00:21 <Cepheid> Yes.

00:22 * Schism casts Larboard Cannon.

00:22 * Schism then turns 180 degrees and casts Larboard Cannon again.

00:22 <Cepheid> The parts in the back do primarily magic damage or effects.  Forward parts deal mostly physical damage.

00:23 <Cepheid> The team effectively has to be outfitted with the best gear money and murder can buy, and would need to be max level.  Then I would also need a stock of the most powerful restoratives for HP and TP..

00:24 <Schism> ... Cepheid: https://twitter.com/3liza/status/1084611874891522048

00:25 <Cepheid> Yep.  I used to do that with Spitfire.

00:33 <Cepheid> Meanwhile over in Nexus, I need consumables and a few levels.  Because two bosses in a blasted row.

00:33 <Cepheid> One from EO4.  Other from EO1.

00:56 <Lumindia> I'm guessing one strategy is to keep taking care of certain limbs so the boss can't TPK?

00:59 <Cepheid> More or less.

00:59 <Cepheid> That would probably need to be...

01:00 <Cepheid> Rocket Booster and Energy Vent.  Those two buff and heal the core.

01:02 <Cepheid> In fact I had not considered the idea of building a team directed at keeping those two parts out of commission.  Thanks, Lumindia.

04:38 <ConfusionRift> Hello everypony.

04:39 * Ali flops into ConfusionRift. "So many bad Terraria worlds."

04:40 <ConfusionRift> Hehehe.

04:42 <Ali> First one I had was Jungle right to the right of base that spilled into the frost biome

04:42 <Ali> Then when I killed the WoF, the Hallow tried to spawn in the Jungle

04:43 <Ali> Next world had Crimson right in the middle of the jungle

04:43 <ConfusionRift> At the very least... never mind. That last one sucks.

04:43 <Ali> 3rd world was dead end city

04:43 <Ali> ConfusionRift, no underground hallow

04:43 <Ali> No Souls of Light

04:44 * DashedRainbows paws at ConfusionRift and barks

04:44 <ConfusionRift> Remember that Hallow still spreads, but that meant you had to wait for it to spread past that area.

04:44 * ConfusionRift pets DashedRainbows. :P

04:44 <Finwe> Good mornin, eveeypony.

04:44 <ConfusionRift> RAdm. Finwe. (salutes)

04:44 <Ali> ConfusionRift, hallow doesn't spread on mud

04:44 <Ali> Nor will it corrupt it to hallow

04:45 * DashedRainbows plays with Finwe's hooves

04:45 <Finwe> Lt Cdr ConfusionRift, Miss Ali, Messrs Schism and PinkieShy.

04:45 <Finwe> o7

04:46 * PinkieShy hands Finwe a cookie cat

04:47 <ConfusionRift> Hallow spawns diagonally, the Jungle biome is mainly vertical. So there will still be some hallow spreading way deep right next to the jungle. Problem is the spread. It will take forever for it to make its way.

04:48 * DashedRainbows also paws at PinkieShy

04:48 <Schism> Good news for once.  A copycat shooting at a Florida Wal*Mart was averted after the abortive shooter called it in ahead of time, doubtless seeking to earn some troll cred or something.  The response was on point and shoppers were evacuated well ahead of his arrival.

04:49 * ConfusionRift sighs.

04:49 <Ali> My lord

04:49 <ConfusionRift> This is gonna be a really long week.

04:49 <Ali> This is why the damn media needs to stop giving these things 24 hour attention..

04:49 <Ali> I swear this will never end

04:50 <Ali> Probably cause the US is too stubborn to give up its AK47's to the public

04:50 <Schism> At least this time, there were no deaths.

04:50 <Ali> Common people DO NOT need military grade weapons

04:50 <Ali> They should be illegal to buy/sell to all people

04:50 <Ali> They should only be in the hands of military personel and SWAT

04:51 <Ali> Cause you won't get this kind of death with a pistol

04:51 * ConfusionRift sighs again. "Gonna stay clear off the minefield."

04:51 <Ali> I know sorry, just venting.

04:52 <ConfusionRift> It's fine. It's just that was basically the arguments that have been going on as of late.

04:52 * PinkieShy hands DashedRainbows a lion lickers ice cream sandwich.

04:52 <Ali> This garbage has been going on since Columbine to be honest.

04:53 <Ali> But the US is never known for taking action quickly

04:53 <DashedRainbows> Yay!

04:53 <Ali> Something has to go horridly wrong before its stopped, sadly weekly mass shooting don't seem to budge congress to do anything

04:53 <PinkieShy> Japan I heard is restricted on stuff like that Ali.

04:53 <Ali> There's tons of countries that are

04:53 <ConfusionRift> ^

04:54 <Ali> I don't mind the right to bare arms

04:54 <Ali> Just you don't need a civilian armed with an AK47

04:54 <PinkieShy> Ikr

04:54 <PinkieShy> All that should be allowed is pistol for regular people and whatever else for hunters.

04:55 <Ali> Hunting rifles are too slow due to the need for reload

04:55 <Ali> Just like pistols having small clips

04:55 <Ali> AK you can spray and pray

04:55 <Schism> A shotgun is a useful tool.  It has multiple purposes depending upon the loadout, and with low-weight birdshot, it's comparatively unlikely to result in the death of anyone by mistake.

04:55 * ConfusionRift laughs,

04:55 <Ali> Shotguns also have very short range

04:55 * Schism nods. "As I said, comparatively unlikely to get someone killed."

04:55 <Ali> Even with buckshot

04:56 <Ali> But again, do you want to get that close to someone who might have a pistol?

04:56 <ConfusionRift> As I said, gonna just sit back for now.

04:56 <Ali> Sorry ConfusionRift >.<

04:56 <ConfusionRift> No no. I'm just... you do remember, right? :P

04:57 * Ali headtilts, remembers what?

04:57 <ConfusionRift> I'm a firearms owner as well?

04:57 * DashedRainbows curls up with her favorite plushie. Nini horseys

04:58 <Ali> I don't mind the right to have guns, there's just certain ones I just don't think that civilians should have

04:59 <Schism> ConfusionRift: You're the sensible sort, though, instead of someone who figures that he needs to own a semi-automatic with a 36-bullet magazine for the sole purpose of preserving his human rights.

04:59 <Schism> full automatic*

05:00 <Schism> (Guns are almost always semi-automatic, I keep mistyping that.)

05:00 * ConfusionRift points at a WASR-10, an AR pistol, and a pistol.

05:01 <Schism> The wood stock is a little much.

05:01 <ConfusionRift> I do admit automatic firearms are way too much. Then again, they are mostly within civilians who have waaaay too much money. Talking about law abiding citizens of course.

05:01 * Ali puts a shiny Charmander on ConfusionRift head.

05:01 * ConfusionRift yays and smiles.

05:02 * Schism looks at a field-stripped WASR-10. "That's a very simple machine."

05:03 * ConfusionRift whispers at Schism. "It's a Romanian AK pattern."

05:04 <ConfusionRift> It's semi, of course. And mine hasn't seen much clean air in a long time.

05:04 <Schism> Simplicity like that in the field is definitely an advantage.  I don't do firearms, but I can approve of a certain elegance just for the sake of things.

05:05 <ConfusionRift> That's what I like about it. Just how simple everything is as a mechanism. And just as hardy as it's original pattern.

05:08 <ConfusionRift> In any case... (huggles Ali) I respect that. :)

05:10 <Schism> A gun is a tool intended to destroy whatever it's pointed at, and ... well, ConfusionRift: https://twitter.com/theogrin/status/1158168124333670402

05:11 <ConfusionRift> By admitting they have that form of sentience, they are far more competent.

05:12 <Schism> That'd be me.  o3o;  But even so, I know better than to deal with such things, EXCEPT -- maybe! -- if I were under the strict supervision of a qualified rangemaster.

05:15 <ConfusionRift> If possible, you could go to a range. Not to shoot or anything. More like watch how things are, and maybe talk to someone about it. You can also talk to someone who teaches conceal carry classes, or maybe even an officer. Just to kinda get an idea of things.

05:17 <Schism> Well, I'm in Canada, so I'd have a fun time finding a concealed carry class.  And I'm ... somewhat leery of certain aspects of law enforcement, despite having no sensible reason to be.  Call it a part of my chaotic alignment.

05:18 <Schism> Auditing a range might not be a bad idea, though.  I'm sure I could find one around these parts.

05:19 <ConfusionRift> It's just to get an idea of things, get a bit familiar. Not shooting necessary.

05:20 * Schism nods, "And handling parts of field-stripped weaponry, to become familiar with their mechanisms. I'm not what you'd call hoplophobic, but if I were ever to even pick up a gun, I'd want to know its workings inside and out."

05:22 <Schism> ConfusionRift: But let us depart from the consideration of weaponry, and instead embark on comedy.  http://web.mit.edu/jemorris/humor/500-miles

05:23 * ConfusionRift barely noticed that was Schism's twitter. :P

05:23 <Schism> Tis an older handle of mine.  o3o;

05:43 <Ali> First night Blood Moon cause I had 160 HP

05:43 <ConfusionRift> That explains it.

05:47 <ConfusionRift> More than 120, yep.

05:48 <ConfusionRift> Which kinda sucks, because if you use two life crystals, the flag is on.

05:51 <Ali> Pretty much

05:51 <Ali> Blood moon is really just a weapon test

05:51 <Ali> Most of the mobs aren't too bad, just if you have basic tools they'll just wear you down

05:51 <ConfusionRift> "Let's see how well you do."

05:51 <Ali> Heck I think the demon eyes are the worst mob, and those are just normal

15:37 <Cepheid> Honestly?  Just 'cause I saw it pretty frequently.

15:38 <ADragonHoarding> then nah.

15:38 <LibrarianofHope> reminded me of the no 13 floor thing

15:39 <Cepheid> In regards to the number 4, "shine" is "Death" in Japanese.  The number 4 can be expressed as "shi" or "yon."

15:39 <Cepheid> And in regards to "shine" the "ne" is actually kana, while "shi" is in kanji form.

15:40 <Cepheid> Most folks use "yon" to say "4" now, but there's a few special cases where that's not allowed.  I forget them off hand.  Should probably do a refresher before school starts.

15:40 <Cepheid> LibrarianofHope:  Yeah, in Western society, 13 is an unlucky number.

15:40 <Cepheid> Likewise, Japan has no 4th floor in many of it's buildings, for the same reason.

15:40 <ADragonHoarding> Meanwhile in the States, the 4th floor is where all the golfers hang out.

15:41 <Cepheid> ...

15:43 <ADragonHoarding> ...Well, I mean, you could argue that MGS5 plays a lot like Breath of the Wild.

16:26 <Cepheid> As for the wilhelm thing, you know that one, really, really well-known scream you regularly hear in movies, TV shows and the like?

16:26 <Cepheid> LibrarianofHope:  I actually don't suffer carpal tunnel, I suspect it has to do with the damage I applied to my wrists.

16:28 <Schism> Lumindia, I like how the chat on that Twitch thing is just, 'Oh no.   Oh no."

16:29 <Schism> The Wilhelm Scream, also known as "Man being eaten by alligator"...

16:30 <Cepheid> In any case, the damage incurred to my right wrist is numerous applications of perpendicular compressive force to the wrist.  From punching walls.

16:30 <Schism> There was a Wilhelm Scream during that penultimate cutscene in HW, where several soldiers fall off the Steps of Faith.  o3o

16:30 <Lumindia> no, I know what the wilhelm scream is

16:44 <Schism> Ali: It's kinda funny, but you get healers who don't use Regen properly, or put cards on the wrong players, or don't use Esuna.  The latter is particularly annoying, because there are plenty of DOT mechanics which can be obviated by zapping the debuff off.  (Looking at you, Eden Titan, and your cover-the-party-in-dirt move.)

16:44 <Cepheid> Indeed.

16:45 <Ali> Schism, sorry I don't know FF14's mechanics only WoW

16:45 <Cepheid> And some of them are so powerful that removing them would save you a lot of trouble.

16:45 <Ali> And most of the time it was HoTs

16:45 <Cepheid> They're much the same, in terms of damage-over-time and such.

16:45 <Cepheid> And heal-over-times.

16:45 * Filly_Nightmares noms Schism and food!

16:45 * Filly_Nightmares sneezies at Ali

16:45 <Schism> Regen's the biggest HoT, that and Medica 2.  But yeah, Esuna is a debuff removal spell.  Every healer gets it, and it can make an enormous difference if, for example, the tank somehow winds up with 6 stacks of Poison.

16:45 <Ali> Oh spot removal

16:46 <Ali> Yes..yes people even in WoW were back with debuff removals

16:46 <Ali> bad*

16:46 * Schism nods.

16:46 <Ali> I think there was a debuff that made the target's armor basically non existant

16:46 <Schism> Esuna is also /incredibly/ quick to cast, you can basically use it once every 2 seconds.  And doesn't cost much MP.

16:46 <Cepheid> A lot of the time is that it's hard to notice the debuffs are there.  I'd personally prefer a debuff listing that had buffs on a top row, and debuffs on a bottom row.

16:46 <Ali> And when put on the main tank, it would lead to a quick wipe if not removed quickly

16:47 <Schism> Cepheid: I'm thankful that there's an option to make it so that ONLY the buffs/debuffs you've added to a player show up.

16:47 <Schism> Or enemy.

16:47 <Ali> Some mods add color alterations to the player's bar

16:47 <Schism> Heh, we get Vulnerability Up stacks, which happens when someone fails the mechanic.  That one CAN'T be removed via Esuna, because it's punishment for screwing up.

16:47 <Ali> Like if a player was cursed, their bar would turn purple, reminding players that a curse removal spell was needed.

16:47 <Cepheid> Yeah, unfortunately, UI mods aren't a thing in FF14.

16:48 <Ali> How strange

16:48 <Cepheid> I usually end up replicating the heal button system that most UI mods for healers in WoW provide by using a ****-ton of macros.

16:48 * Cepheid wanders off to take meds.

16:48 <LibrarianofHope> all of that sounds stressing

16:49 <Schism> The only combat macro I have is a nice little speech note when I pop a Revive.

16:49 <LibrarianofHope> wow type guilds can be like full time jobs i read once

16:49 <Ali> Do they have battlerezzes?

16:49 <Schism> Yea, first res in battle gives you a 2-minute stack of -25% stats, second and from then on bumps it up to -50%.

16:49 <Ali> Huh, in WoW only Druids could battle rez

16:49 <Schism> Unless the healer uses their level 3 limit break, as should often be the case if the party's about to wipe.

16:50 <Schism> (That's a full revive of the whole team.)

16:50 <Schism> There are also some DPS classes which get a res -- Red Mages and Summoners, that is.

16:50 <Cepheid> Schism:  I set up like, a huge set of macros and line them up with the party window so I know which line is which for each player.

16:50 <Cepheid> They include the most common spells I'd likely cast on each target.

16:51 <Cepheid> So Cure, Cure II, Cure III, Regen, Esuna, Revive, etc.

16:51 <Cepheid> The main bars at the bottom are for group-based spells.

16:51 * Schism nods, "That's an interesting way of doing it. Makes sense."

16:53 <Schism> Well, BLM doesn't get Meteor, but they do get Flare.  Also, Xenoglossy and Foul, which are exceedingly powerful and can be cast once every 30 seconds under the right conditions.

16:53 <Fn> My heart is not happy with my smol cycling record

16:53 <Cepheid> Black Mages get Meteor as a Limit Break, don't they?

16:54 <Ali> Also had the luck that by defeating the wall of flesh, that the hallow side shot thru the jungle biome...

16:54 <Cepheid> In any case, Meteor is treated as a literal "Rocks fall, everything dies" type attack, especially when used on players.

16:54 <Schism> Unless you get behind another rock.  o3o

16:54 <Cepheid> In FF14, it requires special handling.

18:17 <Cepheid> ... And why is it not regenerating the Energy Tube?

18:19 <Cepheid> This leaves an implication that I do not relish.

18:19 <Cepheid> The implication being that, each part regenerates on a specific turn that follows a set pattern.

18:19 *** Quits: ADragonDreaming (IceChat9@Pony-elt.7bh.58.172.IP) (Ping timeout: 121 seconds)

18:22 <Lumindia> :thonk:

18:22 <Lumindia> Hmmm

18:22 <Cepheid> That, or..

18:22 <Cepheid> It doesn't regenerate if the core is impaired.

18:23 <Cepheid> As I just paralyzed it, it couldn't act as a result, and no part regenerated.

18:23 <Lumindia> what does paralyzing do in that game? is it 'chance to lose a turn' or just 'lose that turn'?

18:23 <Cepheid> Chance to lose turn.

18:23 <Cepheid> Usually pretty high chance.

18:23 <Cepheid> There's other effects that do the same, like Stun.

18:23 <Lumindia> if it lost its first turn, it probably just delayed the AI script

18:23 <Lumindia> and as a result, used TPK as its 'first' action

18:24 <Cepheid> Irony.

18:24 <Cepheid> Destruction of it's body parts from using the TPK..

18:24 <Cepheid> Results in me knowing all the stats of the body parts that regenerate.

18:24 <Cepheid> It treats it's self-destruct as a "kill" from my team.

18:24 <Lumindia> wait, so it kills the body parts as well when it TPKs?

18:24 <Cepheid> Yeah.

18:25 <Cepheid> All of the body parts are destroyed upon using the TPK.

18:25 <Cepheid> And they regenerate one by one, every turn.  Apparently this doesn't apply if the core loses a turn.

18:26 <Cepheid> Each part can, by itself, be destroyed.  But it doesn't regenerate immediately, as far as I can recall from my attempts over a month ago.

18:26 <Cepheid> This is actually the first time I've seen a part not regenerate, as well.

18:26 <Cepheid> Let's see, that's one part I know about, so..

18:30 <Cepheid> Hum, I need unicode symbols.

18:30 <Lumindia> I'll code your uni

18:31 <Cepheid> Found the ones I need.

18:32 <Cepheid> The series uses the Japanese approach of Circles, Circles-In-Circles, X and Triangles to indicate resistances and such.

18:32 <Cepheid> ...

18:32 <Cepheid> The Agile Sword is weak to Curse.  That's hilarious.

18:33 <Lumindia> that would be... weak, double weak, resist, and immune?

18:33 <Lumindia> or other way around?

18:33 * Finwe boops Lumindia.

18:33 * Lumindia falls over

18:34 <Cepheid> X - No effect.  Triangle - Resist.  Circle - Normal.  Double-Circle - Weak

18:35 <Cepheid> Agile Sword(First to regenerate) is weak to...  Fire, Ice, Thunder, Stun, Curse.  Normal for Blind, Arm Bind.  Resistant or No Effect for the rest.

18:35 <Cepheid> It's hilarious that it's weak to curse.

18:35 <Cepheid> That means I could effectively make it kill itself.

18:36 <Cepheid> Yeah, it can only regenerate a part if it gets a turn.

18:37 <Cepheid> That was 3 turns the core lost a turn, and no regeneration.  Finally got a turn through the paralysis, and it regenerated a part.

18:39 <Cepheid> That said, I'm pretty sure it's out of order.

18:39 <Cepheid> Which implies if it loses it's turn, it's either advancing in it's AI one step, or the part that regenerates is dependent on the turn number.

18:39 * Cepheid writes down the turn number it regenerated on, just in case.

18:41 <Cepheid> By the way, the above youtube link, that's the boss theme for the boss.

18:41 <Cepheid> Not as epic as the one for the original final boss, though.

18:42 <Cepheid> Er, 6-minute length.

18:42 <Cepheid> It is legitimately a six-minute long boss track.

18:44 <Cepheid> .. Wait, what do you mean the Energy Tube is normal for IK?

18:46 <Cepheid> None of the parts appear to be weak to stone or confusion so far.  There's a weird pattern for elemental and physical resistances, though.

18:47 <Cepheid> So the better move is to remove it.

18:48 <Cepheid> Same goes for attempting any sort of effect before it moves.

18:48 <Cepheid> Unless an agility up skill can increase my action speed.

18:48 <Cepheid> Because practically half of the thing moves before I do.

18:49 <Schism> ... Formidable... https://twitter.com/SegaOfPlanetune/status/1155953383074758658

18:50 <Cepheid> I kind of want to kill this thing before I do Nexus.

18:50 <Cepheid> Because I want to see how this game truly ends, so I can figure out it's connection to Nexus.

18:50 <Cepheid> It definitely regenerates parts in a sequence, though.

18:51 <Cepheid> It's not regenerating the parts I killed after they regenerated.  It's simply moving onto the next part in the list.

18:52 <Cepheid> ... Wait.  What?

18:52 <Cepheid> It just regenerated two parts.

18:52 <Cepheid> Towering Sword, the final part in the sequence.  Then it did the Sound Cannon.

18:52 <Cepheid> That Sonic Mirage does more than just increase Evade, I think.

18:54 <Cepheid> The whole thing is immune to stone and confusion, apparently.  So no making the thing hit itself in the face.

18:56 <Cepheid> Aaand TPK.

18:56 <Cepheid> Last bit to get info on is the core.  I need an Analysis Lens for that though.

18:59 <Cepheid> The fact that I paralysed the core was a fluke.

18:59 <Cepheid> It's resistant against paralysis.

19:01 <Cepheid> Right then, all resistances collected.  Just need to figure out effect of all the skills, now. o3o

19:01 <Cepheid> Full Burst is the TPK.  Regeneration's obvious. o3o

19:05 * DashedRainbows chews on Finwe's hat

19:07 <Cepheid> ...?  That's several turns early, Star Devourer.  Why did you regenerate the Towering Sword already?

19:10 <DerpyBot> New post on Equestria Daily by Sethisto: Twilight Day Happening on August 12th!  [ http://tinyurl.com/y5jdg97k ]

19:13 <Cepheid> Oh, by the way.  That TPK?  It's only dodgeable by either interrupting any of the parts(Kill, paralysis), and it cannot be weathered by defensive skills.

19:13 <Cepheid> If somehow, a character survives it, the game applies another attack to the character, for several thousand damage.  If they somehow survive that, it does it again.  Repeat until dead.

19:14 * LibrarianofHope rubs dashed in da tummy

19:23 <DashedRainbows> This internet is so slow

19:24 <Reiko> Yet...

19:24 <Cepheid> Heh.

19:24 <Cepheid> They changed the message of "It's a swarm of monsters!" for the Star Devourer.

19:24 <Cepheid> "Star Devourer and Regenerating Parts"

19:25 * DashedRainbows chews on LibrarianofHope instead

19:26 <DashedRainbows> Fortunately quassel isn't high bandwidth

19:30 <Cepheid> Why does this keep happening?  It regenerated the Sound Cannon *AND* the Towering Sword on the same turn.

19:30 <Cepheid> What's triggering it?

19:32 *** Joins: Vulpor (Vulpor@Pony-7l14th.159-117-173-net.sccoast.net)

19:37 <Cepheid> Hum..

19:37 <Cepheid> I got a general idea as to all the various effects and problems.

19:38 <Cepheid> Energy Tube is highest priority.  It has to be killed or silenced somehow before it uses Energy Feed(Massive HP restoration).

19:38 <Cepheid> Confuse and Stone are useless.

19:39 <Cepheid> Ailments are all over the place, as are binds.

19:39 <Cepheid> Binds are...  not worth it though.

19:40 <Cepheid> Ailments and binds are not worth it.  Raw, pure damage is the best approach.

19:43 <Cepheid> The only status that is of note is stun.  Every single part, except the core, is weak to stun.  The problem is abusing it.  I have to move faster than the boss.

20:14 <Cepheid> Right, now that I've had a shower I'm in a clearer state of mind.

20:17 <Cepheid> Analysis of all spells and abilities indicate, at a minimum, I need the following:  High speed to beat the boss in action.  High physical and elemental damage.  Defense boosting ability.  Healing.  As many sources of stun as possible.  Ailment removal.  Buff removal.

20:20 <Cepheid> Falcon Rover, Elemancer, Phantom Duelists, and Blade Dancer have the highest agility boosts.

20:22 <Cepheid> Flying Falcon(Falcon Rover), and Blade Dancer have the highest Strength and Agility.  Overall, for speed and strength, Flying Falcon wins out.  For output of damage though, Blade Dancers have higher potential damage.

20:24 <Cepheid> For elemental damage, Elemancers are the best for damage.  For melee damage, Blade Dancers appear to have the highest damage output, but are excrutiatingly fragile.

20:25 <Cepheid> They can equip up to four katanas, and can attack with them all.

20:27 <Cepheid> That said, they aren't *REQUIRED* to equip multiple katanas.  Meanwhile, the alternative, the Flying Falcon..

20:28 <Cepheid> It has the benefit of providing an extra hand for damage in the form of the Falcon.

20:30 <Cepheid> The rover also uses bows, so they have a benefit of being able to hit the front or back bits no problem.

20:31 <Cepheid> For healing, Schism will go back to the healing subclass.

20:45 <Cepheid> Hmm.

20:46 <Cepheid> Schism's decked out purely in healing skills.  Some quite powerful.

20:51 <Cepheid> Hmm.  Dreamer really only needs one elemental attack.  All parts weak to elemental damage are, by default, weak to all elemental damage.

21:00 <DerpyBot> New post on Equestria Daily by Sethisto: My Little Pony Live - Full Tour Dates Revealed  [ http://tinyurl.com/y2tn8rze ]

21:03 <Cepheid> Geezus.  That hawk rivals some of the PCs for HP.

21:12 <Cepheid> So that's our ranged physical damage...

21:13 <Cepheid> I absolutely need some damage reduction.  Defensive buffs are good, but I need more.

21:16 <Cepheid> I wonder how effective a Bunker would be against the boss.

21:17 <Cepheid> It's a 10-HP unit that Dragoons summon.  It has some impressively-high defense, and draws attacks.

21:17 <Cepheid> No harm in trying it I guess.

21:22 <Cepheid> Heavy Armor reduces initiative by 10...  Light Armor, no change.  Cloth armor, +5 to initiative.

21:22 <Cepheid> Shields also decrease by 5.

21:23 <Cepheid> To balance it out, I'd have to wear boots, and light armor.

21:23 <Cepheid> Replacing the heavy armor with light armor reduces defense by 38 points.  Not sure how significant that is.  Good way to tell is to get him to max level and compare him to other characters.

21:25 <Cepheid> I just realized I could have used "alter class" instead of "retire."  Whoops.

21:25 <Cepheid> Oh well, it doesn't take a lot of those quests to get them back up to level 99.

21:33 <Cepheid> Mana Guard works on the party.  Reduces elemental damage.  Full Guard works on the entire party, but has a staggering 7-turn cooldown.

21:34 <Cepheid> Which can be reduced to 5 turns.

22:40 <Cepheid> This team... might just be able to do it.

22:43 <Cepheid> ... And Reflex Herb is overpowered.

22:45 <Cepheid> It's used instantly, before the enemy even moves.  If a party member gets hit by any attack damage, and I mean *ANY* damage, the user heals the target.  Triggers once on multi-hit attacks against a target.  But if multiple targets are hit over an attack, every target gets healed.

22:49 <Cepheid> Turn 20.  80% health.  This team can definitely do it, but it needs some improvement.

22:52 <Cepheid> Defensive strength from Andrew as a Dragoon isn't worth it.  Too much setup, not enough benefit.

22:56 <Cepheid> Hum..

22:59 <Cepheid> Harbinger Deathguard can remove all buffs on a single enemy, dealing a number of attacks equal to the number of buffs removed.  Shaman Punisher has Purification, which removes *ALL* buffs and debuffs on *ALL* combatants, enemies and players, to restore TP to the user.

23:00 <Cepheid> And since the number of targets is upwards of 7, each all getting buffed on a regular basis, the shaman would restore a considerable amount of TP regularly.
