09:26 <Cepheid> This game uses a chunk-based approach to processing. That is, the world is split up into N by M squares, and only the squares with moving pixels are processed, and within a set range around the player.

09:26 <Cepheid> Moving pixels being pixels that move, or do something. So like, gasses that float, water, fire, etc.
09:27 <ConfusionRift> This is why at times, by just walking around, explosions happen. Likely, some flammable moved near an igniter and started the explosions.

09:28 <Cepheid> And also why you can walk away from a raging fire that should have burned itself out in seconds, and return a minute later to find it still raging.
09:30 <ConfusionRift> That's probably why there are continuous explosions at times. You end up hitting that sweet spot between active and stasis, so it just keeps triggering. As for the rumbling, it just happens. It's part explosions and part large chunks moving.
