00:01 <RichardMist> Hello Mr. Finwe
00:01 * RichardMist *bows*
00:01 <RichardMist> Welcome NitroTheFurryMonster
00:02 <Finwe> If < | is bra and | > is ket, what kind of vector is blan then in Dirac's notation?
00:02 <RichardMist> Finwe, have a nice meal
00:02 <Finwe> Meal?
00:02 <NitroTheFurryMonster> Welcome? I've been here for awhile
00:02 <Finwe> I am not going to eat in the middle of the night.
00:03 * Finwe checks his clock.
00:03 <Finwe> 2:03 a.m. o3o
00:03 <RichardMist> Oh, sorry, I thought that you had a supper
00:03 <RichardMist> Ok, Nitro, sorry
00:04 <Finwe> I did, around 8 p.m.
00:04 <RichardMist> okay
00:04 <Finwe> Six hours ago.
00:05 <Cepheid> Contrary to popular belief, there are people from outside your country on the Internet, and many of them live in different timezones.
00:05 <RichardMist> Okay, Finwe, thank you for informing me
00:06 <Finwe> o7
00:06 <Finwe> Carry on.
00:06 <PinkieShy> Ok that was very weird
00:06 <RichardMist> ...
00:07 <PinkieShy> Just came back from turning on christmas lights outside and heard a loud noise out of no where that sounded like a person ripping paper inside the house
00:07 <RichardMist> Maybe headbang?
00:08 <PinkieShy> Idk?
00:08 <Cepheid> Do you drag your feet on occasion?
00:09 <PinkieShy> Sometimes
00:09 <PinkieShy> But i was sitting down when this happened

00:12 <Finwe> Hmm, Epic Games is giving a free game per day until the end of December, beginning tomorrow.
00:13 <Finwe> Dying Light, Resident Evil 7, The Witcher 3, Mass Effect Andromeda, Assassins Creed Origins, Metal Gear Solid V, The Evil Within, Far Cry 5, Fallout 4, Borderlands 3, Monster Hunter Worlds, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Hitman 2.
00:14 <Finwe> I only own DA:I of those.
00:14 <Finwe> My actually playing something on Epic Games might be nigh.
00:15 <RichardMist> Noice, take that chance, Finwe
00:15 <Finwe> Up to date I've only collected free games without ever launching a single one of them.
00:16 <RichardMist> okay
00:16 <Finwe> Free Epic games, that is.
00:16 <Finwe> And I even refused to take GTA V for free.
00:17 <RichardMist> I can't even play any of these games because my system is much lower than minimal requirements
00:20 <Finwe> I haven't checked, actually.
00:20 <Finwe> I've thought of buying better computer, though.
00:20 <Finwe> My Windows machine is Core i5-2400 with 16 GB of DDR3.
00:20 <RichardMist> RX580?
00:21 <Finwe> No, it's HP EliteDesk 8200, there's no space for a graphics card that large.

00:22 <Finwe> The processor's cooling element blocks PCIe cards that take two slots.
00:23 <RichardMist> wow
00:23 <RichardMist> My blocks 4 slots of RAM
00:23 <Finwe> In my other computer there's plenty of space.
00:24 <RichardMist> nice
00:24 <Finwe> I bought an RX 580 for that one, but the postal service seems to be too fond of my parcel.
00:24 <Finwe> They've had it for over ten days now.
00:26 <Finwe> I like the design on that computer, there are two memory cards with four slots each.
00:26 <Finwe> And caddies for four hard drives.
00:26 <Finwe> No cables, they attach directly to connectors on the motherboard.
00:28 <Finwe> The PCIe extra power connectors are placed a bit poorly, though, they're rather difficult to use.
00:28 <RichardMist> Which PSU?
00:28 <RichardMist> for RX system?
00:31 <Finwe> I don't really know, it outputs 1 kW, but I don't know the manufacturer or anything.
00:32 <RichardMist> nice, gool luck with receiving it
00:36 <Finwe> Hmm, the PSU is obviously actually 980W and made by AcBel.
00:36 <RichardMist> wow, AcBel, never heard about it
00:38 <Finwe> Neither had I. The manual only refers to it by Apple part number.
00:39 <RichardMist> Nice if it's from Apple
00:41 <Finwe> Yup, my other computer (the one I mostly use) is a Mac Pro.

07:29 <Cepheid> But yeah, thus far all the weapon reveals have indicated they're keeping the World weapon mechanics, while adding attack skills based off of the Wirebugs.
07:31 <Cepheid> There's also some other stuff that's only been mentioned on the website thus far.
07:31 <ConfusionRift> Some of the previews kinda gave it away, I mean in the case of mechanics.
07:31 <Cepheid> Namely, a new piece of armor-like equipment that has a functional use in the field.
07:31 <ConfusionRift> Hmmm.
07:32 <Cepheid> Said piece of armor works with an endemic life.
07:32 <Cepheid> You poke a certain type of endemic life with said equipment on, and it'll provide a quest-long stat buff.
07:33 <Cepheid> But it sounds like the exact buff you get is random, and the strength of the buff itself depends on the equipment.
07:34 <Cepheid> The equipment itself is called the Petalace. The endemic life appears to be called the Spiritbird. Interestingly?
07:34 <Cepheid> The Spiritbird looks a lot like a bird version of a vigorwasp.
07:34 <Cepheid> https://www.monsterhunter.com/rise/us/creature/
07:35 <Cepheid> Fat birbs.
07:37 <ConfusionRift> That does look like a hummingbird ate a vigorwasp. :P
07:37 <Cepheid> And had googly-eyes pasted onto it.
07:37 <Cepheid> The eyes look around normally, looks like, so no funny stuff there, but they look disproportionately-sized.
07:39 <Cepheid> Hmm.
07:40 <Cepheid> Scroll down to the Giganha of that page. Not interested in the Great Wroggi. That small monster in the background. I can't tell if it looks like a hyena or some sort of large wildcat species.
07:41 <ConfusionRift> Oh, another *prey.
07:42 <Cepheid> ... Oh
07:42 <Cepheid> Yeah, now I see it.
07:42 <Cepheid> It's the hunched over nature of it. Makes it looks like it's on all fours.
07:43 <Cepheid> But it's actually just a bipedal bird type that's low to the ground.
07:43 <ConfusionRift> It might be another species, and probably has a *drone involved.
07:43 <Cepheid> Probably.
07:44 <ConfusionRift> It is, yep. Problem is that is not exactly well rendered. These look like they were roughly taken from their test build.
07:44 <Cepheid> Meanwhile, another mechanics change involves the helping cats and dogs.
07:45 <Cepheid> In single-player, you can have a palico and palamute alongside you. Online, it's one or the other, but every player can have one out, regardless of number of players.
07:45 <ConfusionRift> And those piranhas are gonna be an issue at some point. Likely the water version of the bugs. "Any monster or hunter nearby is bound to get swept up in their ferociously voracious behavior, taking damage in the process."
07:46 <Cepheid> You mean likely the water version of the frogs. :P
07:46 * Cepheid pokes a sleep toad.
07:46 * Cepheid pokes a paratoad.
07:46 * Cepheid then pokes a blastoad.
07:46 * Cepheid falls asleep, becomes paralyzed, then gets asploded.
07:47 <ConfusionRift> nah. The frogs are basically miniature traps. Yes, they will react when triggered, but not the case of chasing you and paralyzing/numbing/burning you.
07:48 <Cepheid> Oh, you mean bugs in the sense of vespoids and the like. Yeah, probably.
07:49 <ConfusionRift> The fish look like they will get in the way like the ves- yes, them. So I would not be surprised it's an extra hazard to compensate for the extra movement.
07:49 <Cepheid> Heh.
07:50 * Cepheid goes swimming in a small pool. Moments later, stands upright, screaming and raging as a bunch of small fish are attached to her not unlike Giggi from MH3, or Zamites from MH4.
07:52 <Cepheid> You know what would be cruel to a lot of players to do?
07:53 <ConfusionRift> Hmm?
07:53 <Cepheid> Wait until just before the release of the game, or the demo in January, to reveal that underwater fighting is back. :P I wouldn't mind it, but...
07:53 <ConfusionRift> 0_0;
07:53 <ConfusionRift> I was... not fond of it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.
07:55 * Ali wishes some games didn't punish you for jumping, being a melee character sucks when you need to jump but because you do, you become a pinata for everyone else to slap around.
07:55 <ConfusionRift> It led to a lot of fumbling, on top of worrying about another ecological hazard. And most monsters really featured why water battles are not great.
07:55 * ConfusionRift looks at Ali. "What'chu playin'? :P
07:56 <Ali> Fallout 4
07:56 <Ali> If you jump, you cannot melee attack
07:56 <Ali> So if you have to jump and say assualtrons are wailing on your sorry face
07:56 <Ali> Well might as well ragdoll now
07:57 <ConfusionRift> Yeah... wasn't fond of melee in those games either. Then again, I like range. :P
07:58 <ConfusionRift> If there were a few more melee options, I suppose, but yeah. Jumping is just a one priority thing in the game, which makes no sense.
07:59 <Cepheid> I may be biased towards the water fighting in Tri, because of the whole "First MH game." and thus had previous experience leading to issues with having to work with a new, major mechanic.
08:03 * ConfusionRift chuckles. "the camera?" :P
08:04 <Cepheid> Er, thus had no previous experience, I mean.
08:04 <Cepheid> That is, I had nothing to base a comparison on.
08:04 <Cepheid> In fact, attempting to go back to the PSP games lead to so many questions.
08:12 <ConfusionRift> Or question. "...whyyyy?"
08:13 <Cepheid> How? And Why?
08:13 <Cepheid> Questions.
08:13 <Cepheid> At least God Eater did something sane for the PSP. They had a lock-on camera.
08:14 <Cepheid> Sure, it lead to a bit of disorientation, but it worked better than trying to manipulate the camera with a claw.
08:16 * ConfusionRift looks around Steam. "Hmmm... what to doooo..."
08:16 * Cepheid hears crashing sound downstairs. "... I'm just gonna ignore that."
08:17 * ConfusionRift hears meowing. "...Yeah, that would be the best idea."
08:18 <ConfusionRift> I'm also tried of trying to troubleshoot Starbound, not playing that for a while.
08:19 <ConfusionRift> I know what the problem is, I just can't fix it.
08:19 <Cepheid> What likely happened downstairs is the cats freaked out due to some snow falling off the house and making noise, causing one of the cats to scramble.

08:59 <Finwe> o7
08:59 <Finwe> Mlles Ali and Cepheid.
08:59 * Finwe doffs his hat.
09:00 * Ali flops over Finwe
09:00 * Finwe flips under Ali.
09:00 <ConfusionRift> RAdm. Finwe. (salutes)
09:02 <Ali> Pft, this AI thinks I'll trade diamonds for a single gold.
09:04 <ConfusionRift> "Hey, if you give me $30,000, I'll give you a credit card with $30,000! What do ya say?!"
09:04 <Finwe> But it's very unique single gold piece. o3o
09:04 <Finwe> Worth its weight and more in diamonds.
09:06 * Finwe noms on Ali's diamonds.
09:06 * ConfusionRift hopes Ali found the gold bars by the neighbor's home.
09:06 *** Joins: Golden (uid250033@Pony-sd90bk.tooting.irccloud.com)
09:07 * Golden flops.
09:07 <Finwe> Mr Golden.
09:07 * Finwe doffs his hat.
09:07 <Golden> Hey
09:09 <Finwe> Lunchtiem? :3
09:09 * Finwe has artichoke soup for lunch.
09:11 * Cepheid drags ConfusionRift off to fight an AT Kulve Taroth.
09:11 <ConfusionRift> 0_0;
09:11 <ConfusionRift> Well, off I go to be a pincushion.
09:13 <Cepheid> Nah. With MR gear, she is relatively easy.
09:13 <Cepheid> AT can only bw fought in High Rank after all.
09:13 <Cepheid> Now... Master Rank Kulve Taroth?
09:14 <Cepheid> You woudln't even be a pincushion. Hell, I'm not. Maxed out pre-augmented R12 armor and she still deals more than 75% of my health in damage with some of her attacks.
09:22 <ConfusionRift> Might play that for a bit. Might as well do some progress.
09:23 <Cepheid> Meanwhile, I absolutely, positiviely, need to investigate a source of money for that game.
09:24 <ConfusionRift> Running out of cash fast?
09:24 <Cepheid> Full armor upgrades are starting to get expensive. Pre-augmentation, a full upgrade from level 1 to max is anywhere from 700,000 to 1,000,000.
09:24 <Cepheid> For all 5 peices, that is.
09:24 <ConfusionRift> ...ouch.
09:25 <Cepheid> And it's only going to get worse when I start hitting tempered monsters in the Guiding Lands.
09:25 <ConfusionRift> The only thing I can think of is to use vouchers, sell all the parts in the quests (including gems), and sell any throwables the Argosy offers.
09:25 <Cepheid> Because that's how you do augmentation. You kill tempered monsters in the Guiding Lands for their streamstones.
09:26 <Cepheid> The best I've been able to find is this one particular quest. It's a miniature Nightshade Paolumu. Quest rewards are worth around 100,000. Quest itself is worth 90,000.
09:27 <Cepheid> Catch? First off, it's miniature. Secondly, it hits MR characters like the Greatest Jagras would hit HR characters.
09:30 <Cepheid> On the other hand, they counteract the high damage with a staggering 9 faints allowed.
09:31 <Cepheid> But yeah, in general the solution to the money problem is to go hunt some of the stronger monsters after using vouchers, and sell the parts.
09:32 <Cepheid> Guiding Lands materials might also sell for a good amount. I haven't looked. You get a metric ton of shinies and such from the large monsters in it, all Guiding Lands-specific parts.
09:32 <Cepheid> Not unheard of to have a little over 50 of the parts after killing two identical instances of a monster.
09:33 <Cepheid> Hmm. Uragaan's Metallic Scute Guiding Lands material is worth 3,000.
09:38 <Finwe> The usual paradigm in RPGs (role playing games, not Ручной Противотанковый Гранатомётs) is that the best gear is never available in stores, you have to find it.
09:39 <Finwe> In Microsoft's Dungeon Siege, though, the best gear is always in stores. You just cannot afford it.
09:39 <Koopz> RAdm. Finwe o7
09:39 *** Quits: PinkieShy (coolm@Pony-ck81je.67-212-45-net.sccoast.net) (Connection closed)
09:39 <Cepheid> This is true, Finwe.
09:41 <ConfusionRift> In this case, it's parts required to build said gear that are random, to some point. So instead of worrying about getting a particular piece of equipment, it's the situation of getting the part for the equipment. And of course, you plenty of said parts to do so. And all of that is somewhat random.
09:41 <Cepheid> Mmhmm.
09:42 <Cepheid> Augmentation makes this worse in that you need parts that only drop from special variants of monsters called Tempered Monsters. Basically, versions of monsters with increased stats, speed and pain.
09:42 <Cepheid> Fortunately, you only need the relevant part ONCE for each armor piece.
09:42 <Cepheid> Weapons are a whole different story in that regardl
09:43 <Cepheid> And Capcom changed things around so that it's not a simple case of hunting a tempered monster in a standard quest. Nah, it has to be one from the Guiding Lands, which means you have to fight through a lot of the story first before you can even consider it. And then you have to deal with the Guiding Lands mechanics.
09:44 <Finwe> Russian is amazing. Tank-opposed grenade thrower pertaining to hand.
09:44 <Finwe> -> hand-held anti-tank weapon
09:44 <Cepheid> On one hand, easier to handle than the original system, which involved looking for special tracks, and hoping you got lucky with an investigation. On the other hand, it precludes the ability to get the relevant gear before a certain point in the story, guaranteed.
09:44 <ConfusionRift> Yes yes, "Rocket Propelled Grenade". Which... it's kidna confusing.
09:45 <ConfusionRift> *kinda
09:45 * Golden feels lucky he isn't playing with Ceph, and Confusion. An SNS main basically means he is as squishy as mage in a banana costume.
09:46 <Finwe> Glass cannons are best cannons.
09:46 <Finwe> o3o
09:46 <Cepheid> Golden: Better than an Insect Glaive user.
09:46 <Cepheid> Or Dual Blades user.
09:46 <Golden> True that....
09:46 <Cepheid> Gods, those two classes of weapons have so many attacks that can interrupt a player.
09:46 <Finwe> Hit first and hit hard, no need for protection.
09:47 <Finwe> If the plan fails, you're in trouble, though.
09:47 <Cepheid> Honestly, in some cases, shields might be more better than dodging.
09:47 <Cepheid> Kulve Taroth comes to mind.
09:48 <Golden> I can't begin to describe how many times I got interupted with a falling shield bash on an AT monster on PS4
09:48 <Cepheid> In phase 2 and phase 3, her size is incredible, due to her mantle.
09:48 <Cepheid> And she relies on rolling attacks to make better use of her physical body length.
09:49 <Cepheid> So, dodging is kind of tricky.
09:49 <Golden> Also yes I did manage to break both horns with falling shield bash on AT Kulve Taroth.
09:49 <Cepheid> Nice.
09:49 <Golden> It was pain for dual blades go brrrrrr
09:50 <Cepheid> As for dodging her attacks, you would need Evade Extender, Evade Window Up, or both skills.
09:50 <Cepheid> Evade Extender increases the distance you dodge, and also increases it's speed as a result. Makes for great mobility with slow weapons, in fact.
09:50 <Golden> Honestly the rolling tell has been easy for me.
09:50 <Finwe> There is a reason to why dual long blades have never been a thing IRL.
09:50 <Cepheid> Evade Window Up is basically an extension for I-frames. Invincibility frames.
09:51 <Cepheid> This is true, Golden, but it's still hard to get out of the way unless you're near the front or back.
09:51 <Cepheid> And if you happen to be stuck in an attack chain that can't be canceled, well, <Ralph Wiggum Voice> You're in danger. </Ralph Wiggum Voice>
09:52 <Cepheid> And, with Master Rank's changes to speeds and stuff, the attack triggers much more quickly, and also hits much harder.
09:52 <Golden> Since I am basically a hit 'n run attacker, and white mage for MHW groups I know.
09:53 <Cepheid> AT Kulve Taroth in 9* for example, the roll only does mmm... around 40% of my health in damage? So, I can survive two hits, without issue.
09:53 <Cepheid> Master Rank? Aaahahaha.
09:53 <Cepheid> One roll dropped me to around 20-25%.
09:54 <Golden> Since I still operate in Tigrex armor for the wide range, and free meal skills....I squishy
09:54 <Cepheid> Best part of MR Kulve? Sort of the same rules as HR Kulve.
09:54 <Cepheid> It's not a siege, but she still has the chance to escape.
09:55 <Cepheid> And the fact that it's not a siege introduces another problem.
09:55 <Cepheid> You have to do all the damage in a single run. Oh, and it's not a "break the horns"
09:55 <Cepheid> It's "kill her."
09:56 <Cepheid> And of course, she goes into fury regardless of how you beat on her.
09:57 <Cepheid> ConfusionRift, if you ever want to do the Kulve Taroth siege, feel free to give me a yell. I wouldn't mind doing it again. It feels a bit repetitive, but I enjoy the whole siege thing, and for the time being, it'd be easier to get the starter weapons I want out of her through the siege than through the MR Event Quest.
09:58 <ConfusionRift> I don't even have her available yet. Well, as far as I know. They mentioned it, and that was as much as I knew.
09:59 <Golden> I am scared to fight Fatalis in world...
09:59 <Cepheid> You should.
09:59 <Cepheid> Go to Seliana's Gathering Hub.
10:00 <Cepheid> It requires being in the hub to fight her. It appears as a menu option at the counter.
10:00 <Cepheid> That is, for the siege.
10:01 <Cepheid> The siege is basically Capcom's idea of a raid from an MMO. The way it works is that one player in the hub chooses to start a seige.
10:01 <Golden> The last time I played world I think was.....was there anything between safi, and Fatalis?
10:01 <Cepheid> Alatreon.
10:01 <Golden> Safi.
10:01 <Golden> I haven't played since safi.
10:01 <Cepheid> Me and ADra just, JUST reached Safi.
10:02 <Cepheid> We did the recon, but the siege is currently unavailable.
10:02 <Golden> Tactical tpk incoming!
10:02 <Cepheid> Anyhow, so as I was saying... The siege works by one having all 16 players in a given session being able to contribute towards siege progress.
10:03 <Cepheid> You split up into groups of four players, and fight the relevant monster. You get points for doing certain things, which contribute to a Pursuit Level.
10:03 <Cepheid> As the pursuit level goes up, you gain more and more beneficial effects. Scout flies are usable in the first phase, you get more time per run, and part breakability goes up.
10:04 <Golden> That, or pray to what ever dieties are in the MH universe that a team picks up the slack if one isn't doing it
10:04 <Cepheid> You also get reward levels.
10:04 <ConfusionRift> Oh, movie collab quests. Also, yep, there's the siege option.
10:04 <Cepheid> The more points you get, the better your reward levels.
10:04 <Cepheid> Eventually, one team will get to a point where they bring her all the way to phase 4, and break the horns.
10:04 <Cepheid> At which point, the siege is over.
10:05 <Golden> Oh that's right. MH movie should launch here in....two days
10:05 <Cepheid> You can then turn in your reward levels for items akin to Rust and Ancient shards of the previous games.
10:05 <Cepheid> Which transform into a variety of weapons.
10:05 <Cepheid> There's a few extra ways to increase your rewards beyond the points. But they're tricky.
10:06 <Golden> Even if I wanted to play with you guys I don't think I could because well PS4 player
10:06 <Cepheid> Kulve Taroth has an enrage beyond enrage, called Fury. If you break the horns while she's in Fury, you get extra rewards.
10:06 <Cepheid> And alas, we are on PC, Golden.
10:06 <Golden> Imagine an AT White Fatalis.
10:06 <Cepheid> I am not looking forward to switching back to controller for Rise.
10:07 <Golden> Attack doggos!!!
10:07 * ConfusionRift looks at his controller. Then shrugs.
10:07 <Cepheid> I like being able to use my keyboard, and programmable mouse, to provide quick-use keys for items, and special functionality not possible with input configuration ingame.
10:08 <Golden> Well hopefully it will be okay when Rise is out
10:08 <Cepheid> Mmhmm.
10:09 <Cepheid> Alternatively, I find a way to create a device that advertises itself as a pair of joycons to the Switch, and I then use a program to translate keyboard and mouse inputs into joycon state information.
10:09 <Cepheid> >.>
10:09 <Golden> I will just have to learn the button terms, and sns combos.
10:10 <Cepheid> Judging from what I've seen, the weapons are all basically taking their combos and traits from World.
10:11 <Golden> True, but it may have some variation
10:11 <Cepheid> Oh, definitely.
10:11 <Cepheid> The Silkbind Actions come to mind, two special abilities for each weapon, akin to the Hunter Arts from Generations Ultimate.
10:12 <Cepheid> And then there's the Wirebug-related combos.
10:12 <ConfusionRift> Oh... even expired.
10:12 <Cepheid> Hmm?
10:13 <Golden> And yes I have stuck with SnS since the game I started in. 4U where I used the Master Sword crossover item.
10:13 <Cepheid> Nah, that's fine, Golden.
10:13 <ConfusionRift> In any case, I guess I should deal with Kuga and Glav.
10:13 <Cepheid> Some people are exceptionally well-suited to a given weapon class. So use it.
10:13 <Cepheid> I'm good with approximately three, maybe four weapons.
10:13 <Golden> Even wore the Link armor through like 90% of the story in 4U
10:14 <Cepheid> Switch-Axe, Sword and Shield, Light Bowgun, and Hunting Horn. Hunting Horn I'm still practicing with.
10:14 <Cepheid> Mainly in the area of "composing songs while attacking the monster."
10:15 <Cepheid> The problem I have is all the variations in songs between different horns. As a result, I currently have a problem in remembering the songs as I switch around, and keeping my eyes on the notes that I'm playing.
10:15 <Golden> Use your team mates as distractions :3
10:15 <Golden> Hunting horn seems to be pure white mage in terms of dealing out buffs, and all.
10:16 * Dappled is a white mage!
10:17 * Dappled looks around.
10:17 * Dappled doesn't like the Hunting Horn though. SnS and Wide-range 5.
10:17 <Golden> I just hope in Rise we get the creativity of the weapon designs back.
10:17 * Finwe noms on Dappled's white robe.
10:17 * Dappled can cast mending and cleaning!
10:17 <Cepheid> Yeah, Hunting Horn is basically the buffing class.
10:17 <Cepheid> But in terms of healing?
10:17 <Cepheid> Amazingly, they're not that great.
10:17 <Cepheid> They are beat out by Insect Glaive users.
10:18 * Dappled eats blue mushrooms to heal the party.
10:18 <Cepheid> There's that, too.
10:18 <Dappled> Well blue shrooms are potion equiavalent, not mega pot.
10:18 <Cepheid> With respect to Insect Glaive, the weapon can create clouds that can be collected by other players. Among the effects of the clouds are healing.
10:19 <Cepheid> Hunting Horn, meanwhile. Whether you can heal or not is dependent on the songs available. Admittedly it does have the benefit of healing in a wide-range.
10:19 <Golden> Free meal wide range 5. Basically covers a zone.
10:19 * Dappled bow guns and shoots the green clouds for some reason.
10:19 <Finwe> So, should one collect the free Monster Hunter Worlds on the 27th this month?
10:19 <Dappled> Free Monster Hunter?
10:19 <Cepheid> But yes. Tigrex or any other armor set with the Free Meal max level boost, combined with Mushroomancer and Wide-range is a good setup.
10:20 <Cepheid> Epic Games is providing free games every day, and one of them is going to be MH:World.
10:20 <Dappled> Oh.
10:20 * Dappled loses interest immediately.
10:20 <Finwe> Dappled: Yes, Epic Game Store has a free game every day from the 17th on to the end of December.
10:21 * Dappled won't even give them the satisfaction of downloading their launcher.
10:21 <Cepheid> I don't know if MH:World relies on the EGS being running, but in many cases, you can get away with simply installing the EGS, then installing the relevant game, and after that, uninstalling the EGS.
10:21 <Golden> Yuck egs....
10:21 <Cepheid> My experiences with it tell me that the EGS app is not necessary to actually run the games.
10:21 *** Joins: RazorSharpFang (RazorSharpF@Pony-1cucj7.tpgi.com.au)
10:21 <Cepheid> Just install.
10:22 <Golden> I'd stick with steam, gog, playstation store, xbox marketplace, and the eshop.
10:22 <Cepheid> Mmhmm.
10:22 <Cepheid> But my point is, if you absolutely want an EGS-exclusive game, and don't want to deal with EGS for longer than you have to..
10:22 <Dappled> I don't even mind the microsoft store on PC, but the scummy tactics out of Epic made me swear them off entirely.
10:22 <Golden> Same
10:22 <Cepheid> Simply install it, then install the game, then uninstall EGS, and backup the game to a disc somewhere for future re-installs.
10:22 <Dappled> I can wait. Or get it on a console.
10:23 <Golden> Even stopped playing rocket league when they got their hreedy mits on it.
10:23 <Cepheid> Hell, if you're so worried, do it just before you decide to blow away everything on your PC.
10:23 * Finwe hats on Dappled.
10:23 * Dappled has a nice hat.
10:23 <Cepheid> That said, any updates afterwards do become a problem.
10:24 * Dappled makes enough money, if he really wants to start over in MH:W, he'll just buy it, full price or not.
10:24 <Cepheid> But, at this point in time, MH:World's done updating. If it gets any patches, it's either just going to be small event quests, bug fixes, or to remove any remaining DRM or online-only stuff, etc.
10:24 <Golden> Anyways back to MH.
10:24 <Golden> Wifi is acting up, and is messing up my messages DX
10:26 <Cepheid> Myself, I should probably eat, do a few exercises, have a coffee, and do some last-minute review studying for my exam today.
10:26 <Golden> What was the time you guys could say you actually could call yourself a hunter? As in the toughest hunt you took on where it made future hunts basically a breeze. Any MH game
10:26 <Cepheid> After which I am officially done of this semester.
10:26 <Cepheid> I know what that point is, but I don't remember the quest name. Give me a moment.
10:28 * Dappled doesn't know if he has a moment like that. Though he still remembers bashing his head against HR49? Kirin.
10:30 <Cepheid> MH4U. Rank 6, The Caravaneer's Challenge. You face off against an always-supercharged Zinogre, a Furious Rajang, and a Shagaru Magala, solo.
10:30 <Golden> For me it was the Fatalis (forget which version of it) in 4U
10:30 <Dappled> That sounds hard.
10:30 <Golden> ...that quest is hard...
10:31 <Cepheid> Even with High Rank gear, it is difficult, yes. And I did it with high rank gear, not G-rank gear.
10:31 <RazorSharpFang> Evening.
10:32 <Cepheid> It was pretty much that point that had been the defining moment that pushed me to go nuts with hunting in general.
10:32 <Golden> Anyway for specifics my friends decided rhat once I got good enough gear the first Elder Dragon mission they took me on was to be the Fatalis. Had one cart left, and as it was charging at me I got it with the Dragonator.
10:32 * Dappled attempts to get to space.
10:33 <Cepheid> When ADra, ConfusionRift or Schism are around, of the four of us, I tend to be the one who suggests doing quests that may be beyond our abilities.
10:33 <Cepheid> The only reason me and ADra poked the Safi recon in the first place was because I went to SOLO IT.
10:33 <Golden> The other three backed off basically turning it into a solo between me, and Fatalis.
10:34 <Cepheid> Heh.
10:35 <Cepheid> Another instance of "Damn, we're good" would have been the Shara Ishvalda run the other day.
10:35 <Golden> Oh god Shara Ishvalda the last air bender
10:35 <Cepheid> The Naked Truth version, so slightly more damage output. Had Felyne Insurance and Felyne Safeguard in play, so maximum of five carts.
10:35 <Cepheid> Sound bender.
10:35 <Cepheid> Anyhoo..
10:36 <Cepheid> This one player, I'm wondering if they were new to Shara Ishvalda, because they kept getting beat up by some of the simpler attacks.
10:36 <Cepheid> They would also do stuff like run through the mire when it's about to explode.
10:36 <Cepheid> Four carts.
10:37 <Golden> Most likely
10:37 <Cepheid> We were nearing the end, and I didn't want to give up. Nor did I want to boot the player, as it wasn't intentional carting, they just didn't seem to know what was going on exactly.
10:37 <Cepheid> So I switched over to healing duty as quickly as I could. Grabbed an item set for throwing around Dusts of Life and Lifepowders, then crafting more.
10:38 <Cepheid> Every time he took even the slightest bit of damage, I'd throw out a dust of life or lifepowder.
10:38 <Cepheid> I went through them so quickly that I had to restock, and spend 30 seconds away, which terrified the hell out of me.
10:38 <Cepheid> Surprisingly they survived those 30 seconds without me.
10:39 <Cepheid> Get back, another 2-3 minutes. Shara Ishvalda drops dead. Cue the loudest, longest "Hooooooooooly [REDACTED]!" from me.
10:39 <Golden> I only take as much as I can for Dusts of Life, and Life Powder.
10:39 <Cepheid> Yeah, this item set was a specific set for crafting as many healing items as possible.
10:39 <Cepheid> As I did not have the Tigrex set at the time, it served as my Wide-Range set.
10:40 <Golden> I have tigrex wide-range, but don't run mushroomancer.
10:40 <Cepheid> I now have a new armor set that uses the Tigrex Set, Speed Eater, Wide-Range, maxed out Free Meal, and Mushroomancer.
10:41 <Cepheid> Mushroomancer is the only non-armor or non-jewel skill in the set. I made a maxed-out Mushroomancer Charm.
10:43 <Cepheid> Whether or not I'll ever actually use that armor and item set, I don't know.
10:43 <Cepheid> I might use it in a public siege of some sort, but outside of that... It's of limited use in my case.
10:43 <Golden> Maxed free meal, wide-range, speed eater, and tigrex set. That basically is my only set I have since most MHW players believe SNS mains are for pure healing. I have been berated too many times over chat for not being a healer when using my weapon of choice.
10:44 <Cepheid> As typically the only other person I am seen hunting with is ADragonDreaming. Occasionally, Schism or ConfusionRift will be added in, but we all have such widely varying schedules that it's often hard to get more than 3 of us together.
10:44 <Cepheid> Golden, that sucks. I'd tell the other players to go [REDACTED] themselves.
10:44 <Golden> The only thing that changes is costumes, and the type of sns.
10:45 <Cepheid> SnS has uses outside of simply healing. I mean, it's true that they are best suited for Wide-Range due to the ability of using items with their weapon drawn, but...
10:45 <Cepheid> They're great for quick hit-and-run tactics, have a shield for defending against damage, and their shield can do double-duty as a bashing weapon.
10:46 <Cepheid> Plus, their weapons consistently have a high amount of elemental damage associated with them, which probably made them even more key for Alatreon.
10:46 <Cepheid> Oh my gods, the saltiness I saw when Alatreon was released.
10:46 <Golden> So in short I was bullied into being a hit 'n run attacker/ whitemage. It is two weapon classes in one. It counts as a slicing, and blunt. When Alatreon released....
10:46 <Cepheid> Suddenly, all the players who insisted that raw, physical damage was the best way to go were finding that they simply could not win.
10:47 <Cepheid> Mathematically, it might be true that raw damage is best, but people tend not to consider the problems with it.
10:48 <Cepheid> Namely, you have to strike specific spots, and you have to strike them from a specific range, to get the highest damage output.
10:48 <Cepheid> Some weapons have a "sweet spot," for striking. If you hit the monster with that sweet spot, it'll do a bit more damage than usual.
10:49 <Cepheid> Which means placement is extremely critical in relation to the monster. Which, hey, isn't going to stay still for most of the battle. Also, you have to hit the right body part, which may be this teeeeeeny tiny little thing, or be mixed in with a bunch of other parts that are so close that striking it is difficult.
10:49 <Cepheid> If you're absolutely perfect in taking all this into consideration, then yes, raw damage will probably win out over raw + elemental.
10:50 <Cepheid> Meanwhile? I'm going to consistently strike for 250-350 damage on a number of different weak spots, by combining high raw damage with high elemental damage, thank you very much.
10:50 <Golden> I was laughing at how many idiots got their flanks handed to them by Alatreon. The "Oh I would change, but muh dps" crowd is full of [one long line of redacted.]
10:51 <Cepheid> It'd probably help if Capcom stopped using the scaled attack values.
10:51 <Cepheid> That creates so much confusion in regards to comparison of weapons.
10:52 <Cepheid> The comparison only matters within the same weapon class. Between differing weapons classes, it only matters if the two weapon classes share the same scaler.
10:52 <Golden> Of course there were other hunters not part of that who were having trouble too. I do not fault those hunters who knew the affinities, and such for situations like Alatreon.
10:53 <Cepheid> For me and ADra, this is... slightly valid. I use Switch-Axe, he uses Charge Blade. The two are very close in their scaler, so we can compare weapons relatively well.
10:53 <Cepheid> That said, I typically try to abuse elemental when I can.
10:53 <Golden> Oh same here.
10:53 <Cepheid> And recently, I've been toying around with affinity, because flashiness.
10:54 <Golden> Though I do prefer poison since damage over time
10:54 <Cepheid> Which is hilarious when you have around 50+% affinity and using a switch-axe.
10:54 <Cepheid> Zero Sum Discharge just... flashes like mad.
10:54 <Cepheid> Poison's nice, but you gotta make sure it's actually effective.
10:54 <Golden> Oh I know
10:55 <Cepheid> When it comes to ailments..
10:55 <Cepheid> I'm mixed between Sleep, Paralysis and Poison.
10:55 <Cepheid> Sleep, because I love to sleep-bomb. Paralysis, because hey, free hits. Poison, because well hey, damage when I'm not attacking, or running for my life.
10:56 <Golden> I use poison for I still hit damage when I am needed on healing duty
10:56 <Cepheid> I really, really hope that something like the Flinch Shot remains for Rise.
10:56 <Cepheid> I am going to miss doing that ALL THE TIME on monsters.
10:56 <Cepheid> "Turn... Turn... Now, into the wall with you."
10:57 <Cepheid> "Gods dangit, I thought it was aimed at the wall!"
10:58 <Golden> I lost so many flinch shots do to great sword players flinging me into the air...
10:58 <Cepheid> I... may have contributed to that.
10:58 <Cepheid> Again, I use the Switch-Axe.
10:58 <Cepheid> I try to avoid the upwards swing, but when I'm aiming for a tail or head that's raised off the ground, it's my only choice.
10:59 <Cepheid> I mean, I can just do the overhead swing, but that usually requires doing a forward thrust first.
10:59 <Cepheid> Which will miss.
10:59 * ConfusionRift just finished the Nargacuga quest...
10:59 <Golden> Getting flung up is good for mounting when there is no way to jump, but again SNS has a built in mount mechanic with it's charge.
10:59 <ConfusionRift> I need to do something about this. Maybe I'm just rusting again, or are just brain dead at the moment.
10:59 <Cepheid> So, when dealing with certain monsters, you'll see me do upwards->overhead->upwards->overhead->...
11:00 <Cepheid> Yeah, ADra abuses that aspect from me.
11:00 <Cepheid> He is good at getting mounting hits from being sent into the air.
11:00 <Cepheid> So not only does he not mind the upwards swings sending him flying, he actively encourages it at times.
11:00 <Cepheid> You ever see a player mount Shara Ishvalda, Golden?
11:00 <Cepheid> ConfusionRift: Rust, probably. But it tends to clear up pretty quickly.
11:01 <Golden> It's like I am aiming for a flinch shot. A great sword player sees me, and just decides [redacted] it. I have mounted Shara Ishvalda many times Ceph
11:01 <Cepheid> That said, Narga's one of the fast ones, like Tigrex. I find even I, myself, have problem with the Wyverns based off of the Tigrex/Narga body structure. Switch-Axe is just too slow for dealing with them.
11:01 <ConfusionRift> Nah man. This was a disastrous repeat to what happened with Barioth. Always hated those pseudowyverns.
11:01 <Cepheid> Not bad, Golden.
11:01 <Golden> Again SNS has a jump slash built into it's combos
11:02 <Cepheid> But yeah, I don't see much in the way of players actively trying to mount Shara. It's either too difficult, or they don't know it can be done.
11:02 <Cepheid> And on occasion, ADra has explicitly asked me to knock him into the air to do it.
11:02 <Golden> That jump slash is basically why I have like 90% of my mounts
11:02 <Cepheid> ConfusionRift: Again, Pseudowyverns are a different beast. I find my usual choice of weapon is extremely ineffective.
11:03 <ConfusionRift> And I got no idea what Glavenus is.
11:03 <Cepheid> The core of the problem being that the pseudowyverns tend to jump around a lot, or have a very fast charge.
11:03 <Cepheid> Glavenus is...
11:03 <ConfusionRift> I had to finish the quest via trapping.
11:03 <Cepheid> Okay, first off.
11:03 <Cepheid> Glavenus looks like a T-rex. So, basically, like an Anjanath.
11:04 <Cepheid> He uses a bit of fire damage, so bring fire resist. But the big detail is the tail.
11:04 <ConfusionRift> So a brute wyvern.
11:04 <Golden> When I get a jump slash mount I just imagine that moment when something large gets stabbed, and the character runs up it.
11:04 <Cepheid> The tail is basically a sword blade.
11:05 <Cepheid> So, a lot of his attacks involve it. Including an overhead swing that slams into the ground. When enraged, he'll typically follow up that attack with another such overhead swing right next to where the first one landed.
11:05 <Cepheid> Over time, you'll notice the tail starts changing color.
11:05 <Cepheid> When it reaches glowing orange, it does fire damage, lots of it.
11:05 <Cepheid> It's also when you can cut the tail most easily.
11:05 <Golden> In short Glavenous is basically the 1000 degree knife
11:06 <Cepheid> There's three stages to the tail. Cooled and solid, which you WILL deflect off of, mostly.
11:06 <Cepheid> Then a slightly malleable, but blueish-tinted tail.
11:06 <DerpyBot> New post on Equestria Daily by Calpain: Morning Discussion #2146 [ https://tinyurl.com/ycaxdkbm ]
11:06 <Cepheid> Then the orange, and soft and breakable tail.
11:07 <Cepheid> The tail will heat up as he uses attacks involving it. Either striking, or dragging the tail in a circle along the ground. He can also grab onto his own tail with his mouth and sharpen/heat up the blade.
11:07 <Cepheid> Which leads to the one attack you have to look out for.
11:07 <Cepheid> There's variations of the sharpening motion. There's one that's short and quick, not actually an attack of sorts. Then there's one that takes a bit longer to charge up, and he spins once when he releases the blade.
11:07 <Golden> That attack can basically cart you if you are not prepped for it.
11:08 <Cepheid> Then there's the last variant. It's a long charge up for it, and it does a LOT of damage over a very wide area.
11:08 <Cepheid> It'll also knock you flat on your back.
11:08 <Cepheid> There's a weak spot with his head of note.
11:09 <Cepheid> After a while, his neck/chin will start to glow orange, and he'll emit breaths of fire.
11:09 <Cepheid> If you damage the head enough when it's in this state, an explosion will occur, and he'll fall over, stunned.
11:09 <Cepheid> With regards to the spinning blade attacks, interestingly?
11:09 <Cepheid> Being underneath him is a good way to dodge them.
11:10 <Cepheid> Especially the powerful one.
11:10 <Cepheid> For some reason, being underneath him, or very close to his legs, can cause the attack to straight up miss you.
11:10 <Golden> Temporal is another good way. I mostly power through with my shield.
11:10 <Cepheid> Yes, you need to get the Temporal Mantle, ConfusionRift.
11:10 <Cepheid> That thing is ungodly useful.
11:11 <Golden> Temporal mantle is basically a requirement for later quests
11:11 <Cepheid> And even when it isn't, it's great for wounding and flinch-shotting.
11:11 <Cepheid> Since when you have it on, you will not get knocked off.
11:12 <Golden> Though it eats through the charge of the mantle that way
11:12 <Cepheid> Mmhmm.
11:12 <Cepheid> But, if you're not in need of dodging abilities, it's a good way to deal with wounding the monsters who like to move around a lot.
11:13 <Cepheid> Vitality Mantle should also be upgraded as well, when you can do it.
11:13 <Cepheid> It's less useful, but it does prevent you from taking a good amount of damage.
11:13 <ConfusionRift> "Nullifies damage from powerful attacks by automatically evading."| ... | "It's basically necessary at a certain point in the game." | ...
11:13 <Golden> Yep! Though again temporal mantle is basically a requirement. It is for me cause squeeshy I be.
11:14 <Cepheid> ConfusionRift: "Necessary" is a bit of an overstatement.
11:14 <Cepheid> It's not absolutely critical or required, but it certainly helps alleviate the difficulty.
11:14 <ConfusionRift> Still, that's just terrible.
11:15 <Cepheid> Well, it's more "Necessary" in the sense of "Why don't you have this yet?"
11:15 <Golden> I say required from the view point of a healer so sorry about the confusion.
11:15 <ConfusionRift> No, it's just it feels that way right now.
11:15 <Cepheid> Mmm.
11:15 <Cepheid> Practice, practice, practice, and upgrade your gear.
11:15 <Cepheid> Also..
11:15 <Cepheid> For the love of the gods, start using SOS.
11:15 <Cepheid> You WILL get help, because of the whole Low-Level Hunter Helper rewards.
11:16 <Golden> SOS is a godsend, and a curge.
11:16 <Golden> Curse*
11:16 <Cepheid> Mmm.
11:16 <Cepheid> In some cases, it's not a good idea. Particularly, some Elder Dragon fights.
11:16 <Cepheid> See again: My Shara Ishvalda fight the other day.
11:16 <Cepheid> I just did it 'cause having other players help is fun.
11:16 <Golden> You will either get very helpful players, players at the same rank as you, or bloody trolls.
11:16 <Cepheid> Mmhmm.
11:17 <Cepheid> I've only ever encountered one troll ever, though.
11:17 <Cepheid> And it was around the time of the MH movie controversy.
11:17 <Golden> Or maybe all three in the SOS
11:17 <Golden> ...The current one?
11:17 <Cepheid> The one about the insult to China, yes.
11:18 <Golden> Ah so very recent.
11:18 <Cepheid> Anyways, what happened was a player who was either a troll with a Chinese name in disguise, or was actually a Chinese player protesting...
11:18 <Cepheid> Joined a hunt I SOSed for.
11:18 <Cepheid> They spent a majority of the quest staying away from the monster, doing eff-all.
11:18 <Cepheid> Then when another player joined in, the above player decided to finally join the fight.
11:18 <Cepheid> They intentionally carted.
11:19 <Cepheid> I'd had enough at that point and booted them.
11:19 <Cepheid> It's the only time I have ever kicked a player out of a quest.
11:19 <Golden> Yeah.
11:19 <Cepheid> I'm not sure they were actually a Chinese player, though. Their Steam Profile said they hailed out of Canada.
11:20 <Cepheid> So likely a troll using a Chinese name to instigate.
11:20 <Cepheid> That was legitimately the only player I have ever had a problem with.
11:21 <Cepheid> I have not encountered any other troublesome players. Not even cheating players, despite the supposed frequency that people on the subreddit talk about them with respect to the PC version.
11:21 <Cepheid> Of course, some of the cheats are purely client-side, and I have no way to tell if they're using them, but those ones tend not to impact the overall game.
11:21 <ConfusionRift> The problem is, as far as I see it, if I start to struggle somewhere and need to call for assistance, it just makes it feel like I'm just not good enough to progress. I have not as much of an issue with previous quests... sorta, so it becomes a wall. This has been an issue of mine since MHF2. Not necessarily rejecting stranger's assistance... somwhat, and mostly just me because eventually I'll have to deal with this on my own.
11:22 <Cepheid> They're usually graphics mods. Like turning Rajang into the Admiral, or adding all the armors of the game in as layered armors. Or providing stats on the monsters, like how much health they have.
11:22 <Cepheid> ConfusionRift: Think of it this way.
11:22 <Cepheid> Monster Hunter is meant to be a game in which people work together.
11:22 <Cepheid> That's why it was released on the PSP and 3DS.
11:23 <Cepheid> Because in Japan? The density of the population is such that people can, and will, run into other people who own the game and have their handhelds on them, and they'll just sit together in a public space and play.
11:23 <Cepheid> MH:World is a bit different. Because it's not portable, and it also changes some things around with regards to how single- and multi-player is handled.
11:24 <Cepheid> First, and foremost, all the quests are multi-player. Some start off as single-player for cutscene purposes, but every single quest can be done multiplayer.
11:24 <Golden> I am happy Gore Magala is in the movie.
11:24 <Cepheid> As a result, there's some balancing required between single- and multi-player difficulty, because all of the gear will be balanced towards the expectation of multiplayer.
11:25 <Cepheid> Golden.
11:25 <Cepheid> I was going to watch the movie without spoilers.
11:25 <Cepheid> Thanks.

11:26 <ConfusionRift> And trailers.
11:26 * Cepheid sighs. "Fine, fine. You win this argument."
11:26 <Cepheid> It's just, I'm used to the whole "We don't talk about future episodes of MLP until some time after they are shown." mentality around here.
11:27 <ConfusionRift> Again, sorry. It's just that's on public material. :P
11:27 <Golden> Fair on both
11:27 <Cepheid> We've had the same with MLP as well ConfusionRift, but we still restrict discussion around here. So... :P
11:27 <Cepheid> At least, we used to, anyways.
11:27 <ConfusionRift> Hmm, good point.
11:28 <Cepheid> Simply because people like to go in 100% completely blind on TV shows and movies.
11:28 <Cepheid> But yeah.
11:28 <Cepheid> Back to discussion.
11:28 <ConfusionRift> Alright, now we know. So we'll refrain from any further movie discussion.
11:29 <Golden> I mean I posters are just stills, and don't reveal much. Though I am in the boat of staying away from trailers.
11:29 <Cepheid> ConfusionRift, look at SOS this way: MH is a game about working with others, and in fact, a large part of the game actually focuses on working with others.

11:29 <Cepheid> Previous games only went up to a certain point with single-player.
11:29 <RichardMist> Hoya! *wavies*
11:29 <ConfusionRift> Hey there.
11:29 <Cepheid> If you wanted to go any further, you had to do the Guild Hub quests, which were designed explicitly around multiplayer.
11:30 <Cepheid> The problem, if any, is the naming of the flare.
11:30 <Cepheid> "SOS" suggests that we're calling for help because we need help, rather than saying "Hey folks, come hunt with me!"
11:31 <Cepheid> But there's no easy way to describe the flare in short terms to describe say... "Hey, the monster's here!" or "Hey, I found a monster, come hunt it with me!"
11:31 * ConfusionRift gives it some thought... and decides to experiment with something, and takes his bowgun out.
11:32 <Cepheid> Sort of how you send out a recon team to locate something, and you're sitting back at camp waiting for the locating signal to rush in with a larger team.
11:32 <Golden> Anyway Imma get some sleep.
11:32 <Golden> Cya guys
11:32 <Cepheid> G'night Golden, sleep well.
11:33 <Cepheid> Also, arguably, calling in an SOS can make things harder.
11:33 <Cepheid> More targets for the monster to cart, first off. Secondly, monsters scale as more players join in.
11:34 <Cepheid> https://mhworld.kiranico.com/monsters/Lk1ia/glavenus See underneath the Guiding Lands section at the top. Shows the scaling of stats according to number of players in the expedition.
11:35 <Cepheid> And then looking further down, you can see all the quests it appears in. Kiranico has a small drop-box next to the header of that section to select number of players.
11:35 <Cepheid> And when you select a number, it scales the stats accordingly.
11:37 <Cepheid> ... Holy hell.
11:37 <Cepheid> Kulve Taroth's AT version has an attack scaler of 7.8 over the base stats of Kulve. Meanwhile, it's MR version has an attack scaler of 14.50. Nearly two times the AT version.
11:38 <ConfusionRift> Ouchies.
11:40 <Cepheid> Apparently the highest HP monster is Fatalis, at 171,600 with 4 players.
11:40 <Cepheid> Or, at least, that's the highest I can find.
11:41 <Cepheid> So, earlier you said something that caught my attention. An event expired? Did the Kulve siege end?
11:49 <ConfusionRift> Apparently, the movie quests have expired.
11:49 <Cepheid> Oh, those.
11:49 <Cepheid> Yeah, they were available only for a short time.
11:49 <Cepheid> Likely they'll return, though.
11:50 <Cepheid> You're not really missing much. Want me to express what they are?
11:50 <RichardMist> How are you all there?
11:50 <Cepheid> Okay. Little tired, I'll probably be taking a nap later today.
11:50 <ConfusionRift> Probably something similar to the Witcher's quests.
11:51 <ConfusionRift> And doing alright, just playing... sorta.
11:51 <Cepheid> Basically. You play as the main character, and hunt a couple of monsters. Pretty much about it.
11:52 <Cepheid> First quest is a Black Diablos. Second is a large Rathalos.
11:52 <Cepheid> Rewards are an armor set, and a layered armor set.
11:52 <Cepheid> Respectively.
11:53 <Cepheid> The armor isn't really anything spectacular, so it's not a big deal if you missed it.
11:53 <ConfusionRift> Black Diablos...
11:54 <Cepheid> Though the appearance isn't that bad, minus the headpiece, so it's usable as a decent-looking layered armor.
11:54 <Cepheid> Surprisingly suits the World aesthetic.
11:55 <Cepheid> Man I am not looking forward to today's exam. Not that I'm unprepared, like I was for yesterday's, it's just...
11:55 <Cepheid> I know this professor, his exams are stupidly brutal.
11:56 <Cepheid> 30 minutes(34.5 in my case, due to disability accomodations), entirely online, all questions have to be answered up front, and you can't go back to previous questions to change an answer, and usually it's enough questions that you have approximately 1-2 minutes per question tops.
11:56 <Cepheid> Which is about normal for him.
11:56 <Cepheid> The problem is that a lot of time is going to be taken up just waiting for the system to load the next question, based on yesterday's exam.
11:57 <Cepheid> Seems the school network can't handle the strain of several thousand students poking it's Moodle-based student portal for exams.
11:57 <Cepheid> Literally, at 9 AM yesterday, when the first exams of the day started, the entire system crashed under the strain.
11:57 <ConfusionRift> Yep!
12:00 <RichardMist> Then it's their issue, because they must test it before use
12:04 <Cepheid> Yeah, that involves work on the University's side.
12:04 <Cepheid> As it is..
12:05 <Cepheid> None of the professors have been trained in doing long-distance education, nor how to use the Moodle system properly for quizzes, exams, and the like.
12:05 <Cepheid> To the point that one of the midterms had to be scrapped because it only had 2 questions on it, instead of the 20 expected, because the professor had no idea how to set up the system properly.
12:06 <Cepheid> Core of the problem is that the University is a for-profit organization. So it cuts corners where it can. And one of those corners is in the IT department. Instead of hiring qualified technicians, they hire grad students.
12:06 <DerpyBot> New post on Equestria Daily by Sethisto: Gameloft Pony Game Adds Nightmare Versions of the Mane 6 [ https://tinyurl.com/y859ds8h ]

14:32 <Cepheid> I am now stressed.
14:42 <Cepheid> I'm gonna go drug myself and get a few hours sleep. I'm irritable and want to punch the person who thought the "Don't let students go back to previous questions" feature was a good idea in the face.
14:43 * Schism goes 'urgh'. Also, lack of caffeine. "Try to rest well, Cephy."
14:43 <Finwe> Rest frell.
14:44 <Finwe> What did "frell" mean?
14:44 <Schism> Darned if I frelling know.
14:44 <Finwe> Yotz.
14:49 <Finwe> I've forgot most of that dren.
14:54 <Cepheid> It's gonna be a while before the drugs kick in, and in the interim I have to keep my mood under control. Wheeeeee~!
14:55 <Cepheid> Gods I ****ing hate university.
14:55 <Cepheid> And I fell into my own damned trap again.
14:55 <Finwe> Well, yotz.
14:56 <Cepheid> I let myself discuss what I should do about my future with other people, and let myself get convinced that I should continue.
14:56 <Cepheid> Against all common sense or reason.
14:56 <Finwe> Sounds like a fahrbot.
14:56 <Cepheid> Now I just kinda want to hit a wall in punishment for my own stupidity.
14:57 <RichardMist> Cepheid, concentration is the key to success
14:57 <Finwe> Or thoddo.
14:57 <RichardMist> Think only about the university things
14:57 <Cepheid> That is a terrible, terrible suggestion.
14:58 <Finwe> Frelling university dren.
14:58 <Cepheid> Does anyone have any idea what the hell Finwe is talking about at this point?
14:58 <RichardMist> If you learn that, you will be 1 of the most clever person
14:59 <Finwe> Schism might have had.
14:59 <RichardMist> Finwe, how are the weather for today?
15:00 <Finwe> 4°C and rainy.
15:01 <RichardMist> wow
15:02 <RichardMist> Is that rain sudden for you?
15:03 <Finwe> No, did you forget the weather map already?
15:03 <Finwe> https://cdn.fmi.fi/weather-analysis/products/europe/2020121612_eu_analyysi_fi.png?t=1608128429
15:04 <Finwe> Now the cyclone has moved closer to us and is drawing warm air from Africa up north.
15:05 <Finwe> In my childhood the cyclones mostly took a more southerly route over the Mediterranean, causing cold and snowy winters here.
15:06 <RichardMist> Interesting...
15:07 <RichardMist> That's amazing analysis, Finwe
15:08 <Finwe> As the winds around a cyclone blow anticlockwise on the northern hemisphere, a cyclone south of us means cold easterly winds, while a cyclone west of us means warm southerly winds.
15:09 <Finwe> And the cyclones currently tend to move over the Norwegian Sea or Scandinavia.
15:11 <RichardMist> Saved that useful information

18:24 <Schism> Ahhh. Delicious lunch. A bit of a nice toasted sub and some minestrone.
18:25 <Schism> By way of earlier explanation, there are certain curse words in certain works of literature and other fiction.

22:19 <Ali> But you need to meet all the other civs so if there's emergencies, you jump in and help and get even more
22:20 <Ali> The problem was, I was locked on a contenent with just one AI, and he was warmongering me. And derp me isn't used to this game yet and there's a specific tech you need to have ships cross ocean tiles
22:20 <Ali> So I had privateers and ironclads that couldn't cross oceans T.T
22:21 <Ali> It was kinda too late into the game to really make up for that, as that victory type needs all the help it can get.
