00:05 <Schism> New York Times, how do you simultaneously both celebrate and completely flub a NANAIMO bar, of all things.

00:09 <Ali> Cause NY Times

00:12 <Schism> https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/nanaimo-bar-controversy-1.5935977?__vfz=medium%3Dsharebar

00:13 <Schism> It's a nontroversy, of course, but we like to get het up about the little things, like Nanaimo bars and hockey.

00:16 <Ali> Wow, that ratio is way off

00:17 * Schism gestures towards the Ali. "See! Even you get it."

00:17 <Ali> Well I read the article

00:17 <Ali> then saw the real one at the bottom and the one they 'claimed' to be the same

00:17 <Ali> The bottom layer is like twice as thick as it should be.

00:17 <Schism> Yeah, here's what they SHOULD look like.  https://www.cookingclassy.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/nanaimo-bars-14-600x900.jpg

00:18 <PinkieShy> I had so much sweets today..

00:18 <Schism> I mean, the ratio's not exacting, and it can vary, but that's WAY too much on the bottom.

00:18 <PinkieShy> That My body was wanting something healthy.. So got an apple slice to nomf on to see if it helped

00:18 * Schism rubs her gullet. "Ah, that was a decent enough breakfast." She polishes off her eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and steak.

00:18 <PinkieShy> and sure enough that apple slice taste so good.. I kinda want to get more out of the baggy and eat.

00:19 <Ali> I'll never get used to steak and breakfast

00:19 <PinkieShy> steak.. for breakfast?!?! o_o

00:21 <Schism> Sure, breakfast oftentimes includes pan-fried steak.  o3o

00:21 <Schism> https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/a30433895/steak-and-eggs-recipe/ - This is not unique.

00:24 <PinkieShy> I'm finding it odd my body was craving something healthy lol

00:24 <PinkieShy> But eh.. Probably happens to everyone once in a while and probably good thing it did happen :D

00:25 <Schism> Oh, I know what you mean.  Every now and again I simply _must_ have a good salad.

00:26 <uni> good morning, friends~

00:29 * Ali pokes the euro pony or something, its 7pm here

00:29 <Ali> No..must be even further west

00:29 * Ali flails, she means east

00:29 <uni> mhmm~

00:29 <uni> where east meets west, at horizon's edge

00:30 <uni> or something like that, I can't remember lines well

00:30 <Ali> Where DP remakes are chibi

00:30 * Ali bleps

00:30 <uni> hmm DP?

00:30 <Ali> Diamond and Pearl

00:32 <uni> ooh I see

00:32 <uni> I read that as Dual-Purpose, and got so confused

00:39 * Ali rolls around

00:41 * LibrarianofHope rolls with Ali

00:42 <LibrarianofHope> they see Ali rollin

00:47 * Schism borrows uni, and travels across the sea with them to Eorzea.

00:50 <LibrarianofHope> badumtss

00:50 * Schism feeds Whitney's Miltank coffee, and watches it Rollout.

00:52 * LibrarianofHope does like an autobot, and rolls out

00:53 <Schism> "Lunchables are charcuterie trays prove me wrong."  ... oh, damnit, I can't.

08:14 <Cepheid> If anyone ever wonders why we have beta testing, look no further than the Linux 5.12 release candidate #1.  A bug was discovered that was unexpected.

08:15 <Cepheid> Code cleanup resulted in the swap file memory management system losing track of the offset of the swap file on the hard drive.  Long story short, when memory began to start swapping in and out, it overwrote critical filesystem informataion and data.

08:15 <ConfusionRift> Big whoops.

08:16 <Cepheid> I've never seen a release candidate be declared as "do not use"

08:16 <Cepheid> So yeah, big whoops.

08:17 <Cepheid> It wasn't caught by testing because conventional use case of a Linux kernel is to use a swap partition, not a swap file.

08:18 <ConfusionRift> Well, it's a release candidate at least, and not a released version. And sounds like someone was going above user normal use to find that out.

08:19 <Cepheid> Intel and Phoronix.  Former found it through CI testing, the latter through, of all things, benchmarking performance.

08:20 <Cepheid> The benefits of a swap partition over a swap file, and vice versa, are dependent on use cases.  The primary benefit of a swap file is that it can be resized easily.

08:22 <Cepheid> The benefit of the partition is that it's position is static and can be placed with careful preparation.

08:22 <Cepheid> So, useful for platter drives, where you want the partition at the edge of the platters.

08:23 <Cepheid> However, that is basically a pointless issue for SSDs, so a swap file works better for SSD configurations.

08:24 <Cepheid> Fork it's cold today.

08:25 <Cepheid> ...

08:25 <Cepheid> Spitfire, what are you looking for?

08:26 <Cepheid> Aaaand whatever it was, it was moot, and he just made his way underneath the sheet I have hanging over my legs to hide in a small sheet fort.

08:28 <Cepheid> And now it's off to his bed spot.

08:34 <Cepheid> https://imgur.com/gallery/WCWvUPk This is what happens when you live near the US.

08:41 <ConfusionRift> That sorta corner where it's right in between. :P

08:43 <Cepheid> It's really weird.

08:46 <Cepheid> Spitfire, must you do this every morning?

09:02 *** Joins: Golden (uid250033@Pony-sd90bk.tooting.irccloud.com)

09:06 * Cepheid loads up EON.

09:07 <Cepheid> So, FOEs.  Two of 'em of note.  Scaled Dragons, which are basically just brute-force monsters, and the fishies, which aren't as bad as I thought they were, but terrifying regardless.

09:07 <Cepheid> Of the two, the fish are the easier bet.

09:08 <Cepheid> The reason I feared them was A)  They have 28,000 HP, so comparable to a boss.  And B)  Their original incarnation had you fighting all of the fish in a given group, which was a fighting nightmare.

09:14 <Schism> I wish to offer applause to Elon Space Program, for a successful landing.  Sure, the whole thing blew up like a stick of dynamite shortly thereafter, but as all of Elon's fans will tell you, the landing was successful!

09:15 <ConfusionRift> It was an unmanned launch, right?

09:15 <Cepheid> ...

09:15 <Cepheid> Really game?

09:15 <Schism> ConfusionRift, indeed.

09:16 <Cepheid> You show no signs of this attack in the first attempt, and when I go for the second attempt, I prepare by grabbing gear that counters another effect...

09:16 <Cepheid> And then you go and pull this on me.

09:16 <ConfusionRift> In that case, then I don't see why they shouldn't at least clap for a form of success. :P

09:17 <Cepheid> First attempt, I saw nothing but repeated use of Curse effects.  So I put on gear to deal with Curse, it worked.

09:17 <Schism> True.  But you'd think it could have been slightly more successful.

09:17 <Cepheid> Until suddenly the enemy pulls out a full party sleep effect. =.=

09:17 <ConfusionRift> Cepheid: Someone got gym leader'ed. :P

09:18 <Cepheid> Gonna go on a limb and say this happens in Pokemon a lot.

09:19 <ConfusionRift> It's expected that gym leaders of a specific type have counter measures for their weaknesses.

09:19 <Cepheid> Heh.

09:19 <Cepheid> Yeah, but this wasn't expected.

09:19 <Cepheid> I saw no indications it could put the team to sleep the first time around.

09:19 <Cepheid> Annoyingly, this makes it difficult because Curse is, well, a curse.

09:19 <ConfusionRift> In other words, if you're dealing with water type, chances are they have someone that can do a plant type move to kill off lightning types.

09:20 <Cepheid> Heh.

09:20 <ConfusionRift> If not, rock.

09:20 <Cepheid> Between sleep and curse, I'm not sure which is worse.  Sleep takes a character out of commission, and also causes them to take twice as much damage on the next attack targeting them.

09:20 <ConfusionRift> Or they get really cheesy with annoying moves.

09:21 <Cepheid> Curse meanwhile causes reflection damage.  If you're cursed, and you attack, you'll take damage equal to what you dish out.

09:21 <Cepheid> Which is as devestating as it sounds when the enemy has really, really low defense.

09:21 <ConfusionRift> Of course.

09:22 * Cepheid points to Dreamer, an Imperial, who is capable of dealing upwards of 4,000+ damage to this particular enemy.

09:22 <Schism> This, of course, is why you pick Charmander for your starter, because its Metal Claw chews through Brock's stuff without too much hassle.

09:22 <Cepheid> If that damage was spread out to the entire team, that'd still be enough to wipe the team.

09:23 <Cepheid> In any case, it seems like my only choice right now is to burn through regular enemies to gain another 3-5 levels, and then I'll be able to burn down the FOEs more easily.

09:23 <Cepheid> And maybe the boss to boot.

09:24 <Cepheid> I need to figure out what all these conditional drops are, too.

09:24 <Cepheid> Whorled Puffers are fun.  They are resistant to EVERYTHING except elemental and physical damage, and binds.

09:25 <Cepheid> ... Though they have a normal resistance to OHKO.

09:26 <Cepheid> That said, I have no OHKO attack users.  I need someone for that.

09:28 <Cepheid> Oh, wait.

09:28 <Cepheid> I have a squad of ninjas in the guild.  Probably meant for OHKO fighting.

09:29 <Cepheid> They're all level 26 by virtue of the Memory Conch I've been wearing since the start of the game.

09:32 <Cepheid> Need moneh, so let's go to the previous dungeon to kill a bunch 'o bats.

09:37 * ConfusionRift decides to go back to FO4 and finally put it all to rest. "I'm soooo clooose to finishing the main story."

09:37 <Schism> Sadly, once you return Liberty Prime to the Vault, the elder still kicks you out for being corrupted or whatever.

09:38 <Cepheid> Dude, don't spoil Fallout 68.

09:38 <Schism> Ungrateful little jerks.  Should GECK them all.

09:40 * ConfusionRift has no idea.

09:40 <Cepheid> Cute, the bat hits the entire party with a bind attack, but it only affects the characters it would have any effect on.

09:42 <Cepheid> Huh, a small bug.

09:42 * Schism peers at the smol bug. o3o

09:42 <Cepheid> When you directly attack a FOE, your view rises up before it does the battle transition.

09:42 <Cepheid> However, the view has to reset after the battle, so if you hold the movement button to attack another FOE that spawns in the exact spot the previous FOE was in..

09:42 <Cepheid> The view pans downwards.

09:43 <Cepheid> They didn't plan for the case where the player might touch another FOE immediately after battle ends.

09:44 <Cepheid> This may actually be the best source of money in the early game for the record.

09:44 <Cepheid> If one can ensure they can kill the bat in one or two turns, it basically results in easy EXP and money.

09:44 <Cepheid> Because the bat respawns instantly after you kill it, and it's always facing away, so you always get a first strike.

09:46 <Cepheid> So, stand in this one spot.  Kill initial bat which will be facing you.

09:46 <Cepheid> Then walk into newly-spawned bat from behind.  Kill in one or two turns.  Then walk into newly-spawned bat from behind.  Repeat.

09:47 <Cepheid> Get a character that can guaranteed OHKO the bat on the first turn, then put them in a two-man team of that character and one lowbie, and you got an EXP grind spot too.

09:52 <Cepheid> Hum, that might be enough to pull off a OHKO.

10:01 <Cepheid> Of course, this may take a while.

10:01 <Cepheid> We're talking about an ailment that procs maybe 1/10th of the time, against an enemy that's not weak, but not resistant to said ailment.

10:09 <Cepheid> Son of a-

10:09 <Cepheid> That's not the condition.

10:09 <Cepheid> Hell with it.

10:10 <Cepheid> Kill while paralyzed.

10:14 <Cepheid> Next is... kill with poison.

10:15 <Cepheid> Huzzah I need to go bring a different character for that.

10:15 * Cepheid brings Finwe along for the ride.

10:16 <Cepheid> Or not, he can't learn the requisite skill yet.

10:27 <Cepheid> Got it... Though, not worth it one bit.

10:28 <Cepheid> Last one's a problem.

10:28 <Cepheid> I need to kill an enemy resistant to ice damage with ice damage.

10:29 <Cepheid> Hum, I'm starting to understand the gist of what's being said by the characters in their Japanese voice clips.

10:30 <ConfusionRift> Well, you did study Japanese. :P

10:30 <Cepheid> ... With exception to the shopkeep, because she utters some particularly long statements, with an unusual tone of voice which makes it hard to understand what she's saying.

10:31 <Cepheid> Yeah, speaking of, my studies are going poorly.  I've decided on a new approach.

10:31 <Cepheid> "Study using my own methods instead.  And don't attend the lectures, because they are stressing me out beyond belief."

10:33 <Cepheid> I wonder if killing this enemy with the burst attack on a zodiac would work.

10:33 <Cepheid> Astrosign says it hits with fire, ice, and volt damage, and it deals a considerable amount of each.  Would that count against "Kill with ice"?

10:33 <Cepheid> Only one way to find out I guess.

10:34 <Cepheid> It does!

10:34 <Cepheid> Aaaaand useless.

10:35 <Cepheid> Of the three conditionals, only the first one's of use.

10:39 <Cepheid> So, ailments may not apply easily, but it's worth noting that if you have an entire party try to apply an ailment in one turn, then even if the enemy is resistant to said ailment, there's a good chance in one or two turns, you will inflict it.

10:39 <Cepheid> Thus, using ailment inducing items is not a bad approach.

10:41 <Cepheid> Heh, that's a feature of this series that I really like.

10:42 <Cepheid> See, every game in the series, the battle music has a few variations.  They start differently depending on whether it's a normal battle, a first strike battle, or a surprised battle.

10:42 <Cepheid> The way it's implemented is ingeneous, too.

10:43 <Cepheid> There's three opening clips, and then a looping clip.  The looping clip is the majority of the song, while the opening clips are like, 1-5 seconds of appropriate opening music that leads into the looping clip.

10:45 <Cepheid> Oh gods, this team is just strong enough to one-turn the bats, now.

10:49 <Cepheid> Aaaand I'm overtaking the channel again.  o3o

10:50 <Golden> Huh

10:53 <ConfusionRift> No worries. Not much happens anyways... also got no answers to what's going on in the game. Haven't played it.

10:53 <Cepheid> Hum.  I think, based on the words I could find, this character shouts "Perfect execution!" when he finishes the battle with no damage being applied to the party.

10:55 <Cepheid> Which fits the context.  The party takes no damage because I get a back attack, and I kill it in one turn when properly configured.

10:56 <Cepheid> Meanwhile, Assault Drive occasionally results in him commenting "This is the end."

10:56 <Cepheid> Which given the damage output is appropriate.  We're talking nearly 800 damage against the bat.  Nothing comes close to that yet.

10:59 <Cepheid> Hmm.  The party may want a collection of those.  Target Goggles.  The next boss likes to increase it's evasion, and I cannot reliably stop it from doing so.  So, counteract it.

11:00 <Cepheid> 8000 a piece, 4 characters, that's 32000en.  A couple cycles of bats.

11:01 <Cepheid> I'd buy one for Schism, but despite his track record of landing the killing blow on the wallblocking boss of labyrinth 7, he's... not going to be doing a lot outside of healing.

11:01 <DerpyBot> New post on Equestria Daily by Calpain: Morning Discussion #2224 [ https://tinyurl.com/yaohy8z6 ]

11:03 * Cepheid notices laptop battery charge. Enables sysrq on laptop.

11:09 <Cepheid> Right.  Alt+FN+Print Screen, then press either R, E, or B to retake control of the laptop if and when it freezes under 20% battery.

11:10 <AppleDash> REISUB with about 5 seconds delay between each key is what I always learned... Don't remember what R does. E is a gentle kill of all processes, I is a forced kill of all processes, S syncs the disks, U unmounts the disks, B immediately reboots

11:11 <AppleDash> Technically all you need is B but doing the whole process is a bit kinder if the machine isn't completely ded

11:11 <Cepheid> R takes control from X.  The rest is as you say.

11:11 <Cepheid> But in this case, in particular, I want R.  Because I'm not sure if it's X that's freezing, or the kernel.

11:11 <Cepheid> And if it's X, I'd like to be able to see if I can get to the terminal through key presses.

11:12 <Cepheid> I should also enable SSH on this laptop perhaps.

11:12 <Cepheid> If I can remotely log in after the fact, then it's not a complete system freeze.

11:13 <Cepheid> It's just, system logs leave nothing for me to read, I don't know why, so I have to figure out what's going on *WHEN* it happens.

11:19 <AppleDash> Yeah, I found enabling SSH and trying to log in to be a useful tool for debugging stuff like that.

11:23 <Cepheid> The only remaining issue I have outside of all that, is it's inconsistent.

11:23 <Cepheid> It always happens when the battery is less than 20%, but it's not guaranteed.

11:24 * Cepheid looks at EO's map, and analyzes it. "... A texture that is modified by using software drawing methods, combined with dirty regions, would probably be the best way to implement this.

11:25 <Cepheid> Though later games use a different approach, based on analysis.  They draw a 2D grid using textures to give a paper-like quality, and then overlay the actual drawn map atop that.

11:25 <Cepheid> Icons on the map are rendered in a separate pass.

11:28 <Cepheid> Alternatively, each color of tile, plus the 16 wall configurations, could be implemented as simple tiles, for faster rendering.

11:29 <Cepheid> There'd need to be 4 bits for the walls, 1 bit to indicate if a wall is there or not.  Then at least N bits for however many colors you want to support.  Using a single byte, one could get away with 16 wall configurations, and 16 possible colors.

11:29 <Cepheid> If using a tiled approach, that would induce the creation of 256 tiles for use.

11:30 <Cepheid> Not impossible to do, but a pain in the rear, and bad for constrained memory purposes.  A single texture, modified using software routines, is a better approach.

11:31 * NitroTheFurry looks at factorios price, decides to wait until it's on sale

11:31 <Cepheid> Good luck.

11:31 <Cepheid> It's never going on sale.  Ever.

11:31 <Cepheid> It's part of their ideals.

11:31 <NitroTheFurry> ...

11:31 * NitroTheFurry sighs

11:32 <NitroTheFurry> Ofc not

11:32 <Cepheid> Yeah.  Wube never intends to have sales.  Ever.

11:32 <Cepheid> It's their choice, really.

11:33 <Cepheid> And it's not like the game is of poor quality, so it's actually worth the price.

11:33 *** Quits: TheAstrallyForged (stardust@sugar-belle.blackl.net) (Ping timeout: 121 seconds)

11:34 <Golden> ._.

11:37 * Cepheid squirms and fidgets. "I need to code."

11:38 <ConfusionRift> o_0

11:39 <Cepheid> I get like this when I start analyzing.

11:39 <Cepheid> In this case, I want to do a simple re-implementation of Etrian Odyssey's map renderer.

11:39 <Cepheid> Though, with some modifications, because the game's got limitations induced by the hardware.

11:40 <Cepheid> For example, limited number of colors for the map tiles.  If I were to re-implement it, I'd support full RGB color picking.

11:41 <Cepheid> That said, the basic renderer is simple, really.

11:41 <Cepheid> The ability to edit it is the difficult part.

11:43 <Cepheid> Actually, no, the walls are implemented in a roundabout manner.

11:43 <Cepheid> They use 2 bits.

11:43 <Cepheid> For each cell, only the upper and left walls are considered.

11:44 <Cepheid> They don't allow drawing on the very edge of the map to hide this fact, so the end-result is that if every cell has it's 2 walls set, it'll create a perfect, borderless grid.

11:45 <Cepheid> I forgot about that detail when I was hacking the save file.

11:47 * Cepheid thinks about how to implement all this in terms of OpenGL.

11:47 <Cepheid> Few ways it can be done quickly and efficiently.

11:48 <Cepheid> Simplest, brute-force approach is to redraw the entire map into the texture, and re-upload the entire texture afterwards.  Slowest approach.

11:48 <Cepheid> Next slowest approach is to redraw only the portions of the texture that need redrawing, and re-upload the entire texture.  Spades faster than the slowest approach, but still not ideal.

11:49 <Cepheid> Best approach, is to redraw only the portions of the texture that need redrawing, and only upload those portions of the texture.  Less data to transfer.

11:50 <Cepheid> Unfortunately, OpenGL's methods to upload small portions of a texture is finicky, so I have to work around the way it works.

11:51 <Cepheid> The entire solution is now in my head.

11:59 * Dappled appears. Falls over immediately.

12:00 <Cepheid> On a 640x480 screen, a 35x30 map would result in 16x16 cells.

12:00 <Cepheid> Otherwise, the cells would be too large to fit on screen.

12:01 <Cepheid> And I want them square, even though 35x30 map would result in actually 18x16 cells.

12:02 <Cepheid> Optimizations, optimizations everywhere in the design.

12:04 <Cepheid> For example, I won't use my pre-existing texture class.  Because what I need to do requires functionality THAT doesn't provide, and for performance reasons, it'd be simpler to work with OpenGL objects.

12:05 * ConfusionRift sees something he didn't notice before, or at least he didn't remember. He decides it was best to censor it for Cepheid's sake.

12:06 <Cepheid> Hmm?

12:07 <ConfusionRift> I'm in the older abandoned parts of the institute, which is filled with auto turrets. From what it looks like... some cats wandered in.

12:07 <Cepheid> Oh no.

12:08 <ConfusionRift> BUT NOT TO WORRY! They will be swiftly avenged... in some way. In other words, this place is getting blown to kingdom come anyways.

12:08 <Cepheid> They best be avenged.

12:09 <ConfusionRift> Removing every turrets for their sake. And by removing, I mean "removing".

12:09 <ConfusionRift> Just I often "cordially remove" raiders.

12:13 <Cepheid> Heh.

12:16 <Schism> Snrk... https://twitter.com/moyix/status/1367575109305794563

12:16 * Schism awakens, and runs to the store for energy drinks before she begins wurk.

12:23 <Cepheid> Right, I'm down to 12% battery and the freeze hasn't happened.  C'mon laptop.

12:29 <Cepheid> There we go.

12:29 <Cepheid> Right, it completely locked.

12:29 <Cepheid> SSH is not responding.

12:30 <Lumindia> Cepheid: huh

12:31 <Cepheid> Hey AppleDash, you ever encounter a scenario where the system doesn't even respond to SysRq?

12:32 <Cepheid> It's so FUBARed I can't even get it to reboot using SysRq.

12:35 <Cepheid> Though I think I may have enabled it incorrectly, so I'll give it one more try.

12:37 <AppleDash> I have not, personally

12:40 * Schism returns, and chugs an energy drink. One shot... "Pheeeew." Half a liter.

12:50 <Lumindia> jesus christ Schism

12:50 <Cepheid> I'm kind of surprised that doesn't drive you insane.

12:50 <Cepheid> I have to drink mine slowly over a long period or I lose it.

12:51 <Cepheid> Hum, reports are that there's a new Switch model coming out by the end of the year with 4k support among other things.

12:52 * ConfusionRift worries a bit. Hopes it's not the case of severe dependency.

12:53 <Cepheid> ... Bing translate messed up that translation a bit.

12:54 <Cepheid> "Just before the hunting ban" when the actual sentence reads "Just after the hunting ban is lifted."

12:54 <Schism> I'm somewhat, uh... resistant to caffeine.

13:06 <ConfusionRift> Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...

13:07 <Cepheid> Hum.  Renderer's almost implemented.

13:34 <Cepheid> And there we go.

13:39 * Cepheid decides to take a break, and poke the boss of Lab 8.

13:40 <Cepheid> Also, a bunch of documents one finds in this dungeon has heavy implications.  Implications that tie this game to the events of EO3.

13:42 *** Quits: Golden (uid250033@Pony-sd90bk.tooting.irccloud.com) (Quit: Connection closed for inactivity)

13:43 <Cepheid> ... Right.

13:43 <Cepheid> That attack hits people who are afflicted with ailments.

13:43 <Cepheid> Otherwise, it's a gauranteed miss.

13:45 <Cepheid> And the status is Paralysis in 100% of cases, it seems.  So I'll need anti-para.  Alternatively, I carry enough curative items to heal the party.

13:48 <Cepheid> I assume bindings are counted in the effect, meaning I need to be packed to the gills with Theriacas of both type, and Amritas/Hamaos to restore TP.  Otherwise, it's a battle of attrition.

13:50 <Cepheid> Otherwise, he just doesn't deal enough damage to be an actual threat.  His threat comes from the high evasion and his attack that strikes ailment-inflicted characters.  Hmm.

13:50 <Cepheid> Which means at some point, he'll switch to a more crippling status ailment, like sleep.

13:51 <Cepheid> Called it.

13:51 <Cepheid> He switches to Sleep when he reaches 50%.

13:53 <ConfusionRift> Maybe he's tired. :P

13:53 <Cepheid> The good news?  His special attack that hits ailed characters is so slow, I am guaranteed to get a healing skill off before it happens.  On top of that, he doesn't use it immediately next turn after ailments, thus giving me a chance to heal any afflictions.

13:53 <Cepheid> Sleep's a problem, since it can put my team out of commission, so I either take a risk and just bear it, or I put on sleep-resist gear.

13:55 <Cepheid> But, I only saw the one use of sleep, so..

13:56 <Cepheid> ... What's he planning now?  He did an Evade down skill on the party, while increasing his own accuracy.

13:56 <Cepheid> ... Cute.

13:56 <Cepheid> That counts as an ailment.

13:57 <Cepheid> I'm not gonna win this battle.  Not this time, but I got enough data to beat it no problem with a bit of prep.

13:58 <Cepheid> Unfortunate, because I got him down to less than 25%.

14:00 <Cepheid> Final percentage before loss, 10%.

14:01 <Cepheid> Anra Fruit comes from.. Waterfall Wood, take spots.

14:04 <Cepheid> Tranquilized Gel comes from...  Cube Gels.  Need to kill it while it's asleep.  Hum, that could prove to be an annoyance.

14:05 <Cepheid> Arcanists have Sleep Circle.

14:12 <Cepheid> Seems their Sleep Circle is distressingly effective.

14:13 <ConfusionRift> Of course it would be. Usually the case with something designed for a specific status ailment.

14:15 <ConfusionRift> Wait... is it really possible to remove rust via electrolysis?

14:15 <Cepheid> I am not sure, but I believe I've seen something to that effect, yes.

14:16 <Cepheid> Quick google search suggests it is a viable technique, yes.

14:16 <ConfusionRift> Huh.

14:19 <Cepheid> Anyhoo, 'Nough break time.  I got chores that were asked of me to do, so I'm gonna go do them right quick.

14:20 <ConfusionRift> Reason why I ask is because this guy is restoring what is basically a block of rust. The previous video I saw, he used rust remover, which is expected. The second one, this one, he dunked the frame in salted water and put it under electrolysis. It worked. Was just not expecting it.

14:38 <Cepheid> Yeah, the series of photos I saw in question were of a rusted outdoor firepit pot of some sort.  It was covered in rust, an incredible amount of it.

14:38 <Cepheid> At one step, the person used a saltwater bath with electrolysis to get rid of a majority of the rust.

14:39 <Cepheid> After that, they used a finer, more precise grinding tool to get rid of the rest, but that bath got rid of a lot of it.

14:40 <ConfusionRift> Huh, so it is a viable solution.

14:41 <ConfusionRift> It did work in the video in question, just never thought of it.

14:42 <ConfusionRift> I suppose it could also depend on how severe the rust buildup is.

14:48 <Cepheid> Mmhmm.

14:49 <Cepheid> Done of chores.

14:52 <Cepheid> Let's see... 4 amritas, that might be enough.  It'd certainly be enough to fire off a few more Assault Drives.  20 Theriacas of both types..

14:53 <Cepheid> All of the Unihorns I have, because those are useful for a certain attack.

14:54 <Cepheid> Let's give this a shot.

14:55 <Cepheid> Worst case, I do a repeat of the last boss.  I retrain the mage to be fire-heavy.

14:57 * ConfusionRift got short ended as he was scheduled with no notice.
